I'm clueless, like rocketsummergirl...though for some reason it reminds me of Go Ask Alice (ya know the book, about the drug abuser).
At first I thought it was about using drugs and the affects it causes. But then it seems more of a freedom song, where you can do anything. I think bluebird is just some random thing ... Your curiosity, possibly?

she said in the video when she record it before she sang the song that it about being free cause that how she is. being free and doing whatever you want to do in life.
I know this song isn't REALLY about drugs but the way she talks about the "blue bird" reminds me of the ecstasy pill, blue dove...like when she says, "Hey blue bird, on my shoulder, can you carry me over?" it's like she's taking a pill and hoping it'll get her there... but yeah, I know it's not really about drugs. Just felt like throwing that connection I found out there.
