"Are you just a word I use when I don't understand?" Out of all of the questions, this has to be the best.
Wow, this song really grew on me. Other songs on the album have more of an immediate attraction, but this one is so beautiful and simple... great lyrics too.

I think this song is about a man, perhaps himself, that is in a hospital from a gun wound. The lyrics that I get this from are as follow.

"...and I am struck I cannot move" - reffering his inability to do anything from being struck by a bullet
"people are dieing in their beds" - people die from gunshots all the time
"Jesus are you stronger than a loaded gun" - Is his "power" stronger than a gun
"strong enough to live" - to keep him alive
"and all night long i sat with you in a darkened hospital room and nurses checked in by the hour" - How hes been "with" Jesus in a hospital

this song is so beautifully written.
simply nothing to analyze.he's going through questions of mortality and human nature, but basically he ends on the note that he'll believe in God and hold on to the little ounce of faith that he still has and continue to believe in God and the peace he can bring him.
This song really isn't about God or Jesus but he's using that platform as a jumping off place to begin a literary dialog. Didn't you people go to high school?
