Break Me Down Lyrics

A long day alone
The emptiness is so real
Never having peace of mind
Running from what I can't see

And there is nowhere left to hide
Turn and face these empty eyes
All alone, heart untold, trying to find

Break me down
Replace this fear inside
Take this nothingness from me
I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me down

I try to find myself
I find the stranger trapped inside
And I take one more step away
From a face I used to recognize

Familiar shadows closing in
A suffocating fear descends
It comes alive, uncovered eyes, trying to find

Break me down
Replace this fear inside
Take this nothingness from me
I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me down
Replace this fear inside
Take this nothingness from me
I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me down

Break me down
I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me down

I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me down
I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise
Break me

"This song is about finding our true identity in Christ, which sometimes requires Him to break us down, so He can build us up into who we really should be. (Galatians 2:20)" - Red [http://www.jesusfreakhideout.com/lyrics/new/track.asp?track_id=4879]

Song Meaning

I can relate to this song. Not on every word in the lyrics, but the part "Break me down, Replace this fear inside, Take this nothingness from me, I want to find, I want to shine, I want to rise" really impacts me. It impacts me because I constantly have fear I want to lose and I wanna rise up high above it and conquer and win in life completely at my fullest potential. This song sounds good also.

Like a few of the other songs on the CD, this seems to be about a guy running away and hiding from God and wishing to get back to Him.

I think it's about a guy steeped in sin and knows it's suffocating him. He wants to get out but he can't get his attitude right, so he's asking God to give him a broken (contrite) heart.

yeah very true.............. we all should be broken to get our lives back in order

Loneliness can do strange things to you. It tears at your soul after a while... No peace of mind. He really is crying out to god to take away his emptiness. Remember, feeling pain can be better than never feeling anything at all. And if you have a break down you get all that torturous loneliness out of your system for a while and can possibly ride on the euphoria of feeling alive and peacefully thankful for your life for a change instead of feeling so alone you just wish it would end. A near death experience is really good for that too. Trust me, I know all too well from experience. He also refers to the strange battles you get into with yourself and your soul when you are alone in your thoughts too long. Refering to himself as a stranger even. I love when he refers to the "familiar shadows" of the darker corners of his soul. All the bad feelings that are trapped inside.

God I love this band. I relate so much.

My Interpretation

Humble me

This is me, right now....

I think its about somebody finaly facing his sins. the first part is where he sees he is living without his god. And he wants to find him again. In the second part he finds it hard to confess all he did wrong. He wants te be broken down so he can build up his life again.
