Already Over Lyrics

You never go
Your always here (suffocating me)
Under my skin
I cannot run away
Fading slowly

I'd give it all to you
Letting go of me
Reaching as I fall
I know it's already over now
Nothing left to lose
Loving you again
I know it's already over, already over now

My best defense, running from you (cost me everything)
I can't resist, take all you want from me
Breaking slowly

I'd give it all to you
Letting go of me
Reaching as I fall
I know it's already over now
Nothing left to lose
Loving you again
I know it's already over, already over now!

You're all I'm reaching for
It's already over
All I'm reaching for!
It's already over now

I'd give it all to you
I offer up my soul
It's already over, already over now!

Give it all to you
Letting go of me
Reaching as I fall
I know it's already over now
Nothing left to lose
Loving you again!
I know it's already over now!
It's already over now!
I know it's already over, already over

alright, so some people are saying it's about a drug addiction and others about God, but i found a quote from the band about it.

"We did two different versions of "Already Over." The first version is full production and it's basically talking about addictions. The person knows that these addictions are affecting their life, but they just keep running to it. Deep down inside they know it's going to destroy them but it's an addiction controlling them. Tragically they "offer up their soul." The second version, "Already Over, Pt. 2," talks about running to something different. This time they are running to the answer, which is God, and finally allowing Jesus' power to overcome temptation. The moment we finally "offer up our souls" to Jesus, it's "already over," the darkness fades, we are forgiven of our sins, and we can rest in His peace. When you listen to the first version and then you listen to the second version, you see the redemption that takes place between the two songs."

so really, it's about the drug addiction and then finding God again. : ) Great song!

Very good! Thanks for the quote. Now there's no question as to what the song's about!

To me this song is depicting a person who has run away from God who has tried to make Him as the enemy,as the first line suggests but in the end, he knows he can't get away, and he knows his heart is reaching out, and so, as the title suggests, the battle for his heart is "already over" and God has won, and he gives in to love, "give it all to you"

Actually this song is about coming too terms with Drug abuse and realising you have a problem.

The reason I know this is because I read a interview with the lead singer and he said that.

I've only just found out that Red were a Christian band (well, to be fair I've only just found out about Red) but it never crossed my mind that this song was about God. I respect all of your opinions, but I disagree that this song is about religion. The lyrics aren't a positive reaction to finding and loving God; in fact the singer sounds pretty downbeat about it, as: 'suffocating me, under my skin' and 'nothing left to lose' suggest to me. I'm not a Christian but this sounds like a person giving into pressure and that isn't what religion about.

i agre. this part is about an addiction the person is running from

What I love the most about this band is that you can really feel emotion through their voices...it really hits you. The beginning of the first chorus just sounds so longing, remorseful, and desperate...it hits right to the heart...amazing song.

It's about the struggle to do the "right thing" (like, giving up to God) vs. the struggle with the addiction (the thing that's keeping you from doing the "right thing"). The song does sound downbeat (as said before), but it's only one half of the whole thing. You need to hear Part 2 to get the full story.

GARR!! Hate it when theres a lovely little song and then you figure out thats its singing about god.

Why would you post that on a Christian Band's page. You wouldn't hate the song if you didn't hate god.

sadly enough you don't have to have god to listen to a song... to like a song rather.

I disagree with DieHardChristian. You don't have to like anything about religion to like a song. Some people can just really aprreciate music, such as myself. As for my opinion, I think it's about love.@Neganofstachofstavich

Well I know what Red said it was about but I still find my own meaning in it. I don't see how you could see any other meaning in it but that's just psychosumatic cause once you see a meaning in a song it wont ever mean anything else to you. But anyways I think he's talking about a relationship with a girlfriend that's on the rocks. I recently related to this song hardcore. The first opening verse is talking about how when you love someone but your on the verge of breaking up with them, or especially if you just did, and really don't want it to be over, they are truley under your skin. Nomatter what you can't stop thinking about them and it hurts you because you know it's already over and it truley feels like your suffocating from emotional pain and theirs no way to escape it cause you really CAN NOT make yourself stop. And they always refer to fading being a term to express a side effect of deepening depression/anxiety that is very similar to "fading" as in the side effects of certain pills. Then he starts describing how he gives everything to this person, heart and soul, even though she is letting him go and he is also in a way letting go of himself by doing so. And he is reaching out for her, crying out for her to save him and forget the problems and just stay together and be happy, but he know's that it's too late, it's already over. Their's nothing he can do to fix it now but he's reaching out for her anyways as he falls (metaphorically) just praying for her to catch him but knowing it wont happen. Also this song relate's to their other song "let go" in that it's coming from the same problems of holding it in and just taking the abuse, and he said in that song that he didn't want to run away and in this song he refers to the fact that he did run away and it is what caused this recent episode where she is possibly leaving him and their appears to be no hope of fixing it. Then he goes on to show that he will do anything to save this relationship, anything, offer up his soul if he has to, but it's too late, it's already over now.

A VERY deeply emotionaly inspired song. Coming from the same feeling of desperation so many of his songs seem to have
