Me and Mrs. Jones Lyrics

Me and Mrs.Jones
We got a thing goin'on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now

We meet every day at the same cafe
Six-thirty and no one knows she'll be there
Holding hands, making all kinds of plans
While the juke box plays our favorite songs

Me and Mrs.Jones
We got a thing goin'on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now

We gotta be extra careful
That do we don't build our hopes up too high
Because she's got her own obligations
And so, and so, do I

Me and Mrs.Jones
We got a thing goin'on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now

Well, it's time for us to be leaving
It hurts so much, it hurts so much inside
Now she'll go her way snd I'll go mine
Tomorrow we'll meet
The same pklace, the same time

Me and Mrs.Jones
We got a thing goin'on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now

I can't believe no one's commented on this song! It's obviously about him having an affair with a married woman. Amazing song.

Obviously the lyrics are quite straightforward, but it deserves comment just for being a kickass song.

I think they are two married people that just can't be apart from each other but they can't leave their spouses either. She's got her own obligations and so do I. That is such a common problem, we fall in love with someone else, but we're afraid to leave what is familiar to us cause the risk might just be to much and is it really worth it?? What a truthful song that is!!

It's obvious what this song means, so I'll just comment on it's beauty. It is my favorite song of all time, and whenever I hear it, I SWOON, I just SWOON.....The building intensity, the soulfullness, that incredible voice, the orchestral quality of the background. It's just the classiest song ever.

My Opinion

I love this song because it reminds me of this one time where I had an affair with a beautiful commited woman. She and I were both aware of what we were doing, but we just couldn't resist. She is my mrs. Jones.

The song actually refers to Billy's addiction to heroin. Of course and can be taken in the straight forward context however Billy Paul wrote the song in reference to his addiction. And how hard it was to stop.

We meet everyday at the same cafe, 6:30 and no one knows she'll be there. But it's much to strong to let it go now

Yeap, every song ever written is always about the songwriter's addiction to (fill in the blanks with your drug of choice). Star Spangled Banner was actually about Francis Scott Key's addiction to clam chowder.

Isn't it amazing how people's musical tastes differ? No offence to all the people who have commented on how much they love this song, but I have to say that it must be my least favourite song of all time. Well either this or that hideous one that's something about 'a great big onion'! If it's being played on the radio, I have to switch stations immediately, or if it's being played in a store, I have to hurry out as quickly as possible! Without being able to explain why, I simply detest this song with all my heart. Finally, I have no idea who this Mrs Jones actually is, but if she suddenly moved next door to me, I would be moving as far away as possible, as quickly as possible!!!
