She's Leaving Lyrics
Every day a new start, a cheap affair, a sordid truth
We'll never learn to guide our heart, we'll never find what we deserve
She's leaving, she waited for so long
She pretends that he cares, invents some tale just to get his heart
With no more dreams she didn't have
She washed her hands of this whole affair
She's leaving, she waited for so long
She's leaving, she waited for so long
But as she left, she gave her all, abandoned hope, she took for home
I thought I'd ask but then again, the more we learn, the less we know
The more we learn, the less we know
We'll never learn to guide our heart, we'll never find what we deserve
She's leaving, she waited for so long
She pretends that he cares, invents some tale just to get his heart
With no more dreams she didn't have
She washed her hands of this whole affair
She's leaving, she waited for so long
She's leaving, she waited for so long
But as she left, she gave her all, abandoned hope, she took for home
I thought I'd ask but then again, the more we learn, the less we know
The more we learn, the less we know

A simply sad, yet gorgeous song.
This song is self-explanatory. This relationship isn't going anywhere for her, so she's leaving. What's interesting is the last part of the song where he sings in the first person, was he the ex or a friend?
@xcentric I'd say a friend, an outside observer who -might- inquire about the intrigue in her life, but realizes that the knowledge would gain him nothing. I do wonder about "returning" "home", though. Is she going back to the same situation / relationship? or is it a more physical homecoming to, say, her home land or town? Both?
