The Long Arm of the Law Lyrics
It was the same back then
And it will be again
With the same shady disguise as the last time
You never knew that you would have something to do
With the long arm of the law and the old ones
It was the same back then
You discovered a ten
With a strict night at the school for the new ones
You couldn't tell that you would have something to do
With the dust darkening down for the dead ones
And you headed to the background
Eyes would never look forward
Ten times out of ten now
Things were looking oh but then
Heads were gonna roll down
Quiter than the devotion
I was in the background
It was the same back then
And it happened again
With the new look in the eyes of the old ones
You never knew that you would have something to do
With the long arm of the law and the dead ones
And you headed to the background
Eyes would never look forward
Ten times out of ten now
Things were looking oh but then
Heads were gonna roll here
Quiter than the devotion
I was in the background
Holding on for dear life
And I never decided, but I do know
I never decided, but I do know...
And it will be again
With the same shady disguise as the last time
With the long arm of the law and the old ones
You discovered a ten
With a strict night at the school for the new ones
With the dust darkening down for the dead ones
Eyes would never look forward
Ten times out of ten now
Things were looking oh but then
Heads were gonna roll down
Quiter than the devotion
I was in the background
And it happened again
With the new look in the eyes of the old ones
With the long arm of the law and the dead ones
Eyes would never look forward
Ten times out of ten now
Things were looking oh but then
Heads were gonna roll here
Quiter than the devotion
I was in the background
Holding on for dear life
I never decided, but I do know...

I've come to find that 764-HERO sounds really abrasive and even dissonant, or non-melodic at first, but after you listen to them for a while you'll come to find that they employ some pretty genius use of strange chord progressions and sharps and flats and whatnot, and in the end it all really makes sense, it all comes together. It's really clever and creative. This song is a good example of that.
