Blues Run The Game Lyrics

Take a boat to England baby
Maybe to Spain
Wherever I have gone
Wherever I've been and gone
Wherever I have gone
The blues run the game

Send out for whiskey baby
Send out for gin
Mean room service honey
Mean room service mama
Mean room service
We're living a life of sin

When I ain't drinking baby
You are on my mind
When I ain't sleeping honey
When I ain't sleeping mama
When I ain't sleeping
You know you'll find me crying

Take a boat to England baby
Maybe to Spain
Wherever I have gone
Wherever I've been and gone
Wherever I have gone
The blues run the game

Living is a gamble baby
Loving's much the same
Wherever I have played
Wherever I throw those dice
Wherever I have played
The blues they run the game

Maybe when I'm older baby
Somewhere down the line
I'll wake up older
So much older mama
Wake up older
And I'll just stop all my trying

So take a boat to England baby
Maybe to Spain
Wherever I have gone
Wherever I've been and gone
Wherever I have gone
The blues are all the same

probably one of my all time favorite songs. the version on the new amsterdam album (it's the bonus track on the album barnes and noble sells) is incredible. i highly recommend it.

One of my most beautiful memories is associated with this song. I was living in England and was taking a bus from London to Nuneton for some work. There was a beautiful Italian man who sat next to me. We talked a little and swapped CD's. After we had listened to out different CD's, he told me he wanted me to hear a song, which was this one. And I think he was my angel, because I love England, but life sucks there just as much as it sucks in the states. The misery of living is everywhere.

This song is a Simon & Garfunkel cover. I enjoy the cover, but the original is SO DAMN GOOD. Can't beat it.

This song was originally written and performed by Jackson C Frank and was first covered by Burt Ja nsch long before Simon and Garfunkel covered it.
