Rain Down On Me Lyrics
We never need forgiveness, left home at 17
Raised up on hate, to a life that's second rate
I've seen that look before, behind some closing door
Couldn't be delivered, it just won't be tonight
Too much a child, confident and wild
Nobody taught you how to live, what you keep and what to give
Oh, now she talks to strangers, bring her flowers for her hair
And every night you count on me, to get you out the door
Oh then you smile and watch me lose control
Rain on me, oh rain down on me
Oh rain down on me, yeah
I used to think I knew, what I was waiting for
But I don't think that anymore
Didn't know what to bring you, don't seem to need too much at all
No girls in chains, yeah, nobodys sad refrains
Everytime I wonder why, I think back to the kindness in your eyes
Now everybody wants you, bring you flowers for your hair
Everynight you count on me, peel you off the wall
And then you smile and watch me lose control
Rain on me, oh rain down on me
Oh rain down on me, yeah
I used to think I knew, what I was fighting for
But I don't think that anymore
Raised up on hate, to a life that's second rate
I've seen that look before, behind some closing door
Couldn't be delivered, it just won't be tonight
Too much a child, confident and wild
Nobody taught you how to live, what you keep and what to give
And every night you count on me, to get you out the door
Oh then you smile and watch me lose control
Oh rain down on me, yeah
I used to think I knew, what I was waiting for
But I don't think that anymore
No girls in chains, yeah, nobodys sad refrains
Everytime I wonder why, I think back to the kindness in your eyes
Everynight you count on me, peel you off the wall
And then you smile and watch me lose control
Oh rain down on me, yeah
I used to think I knew, what I was fighting for
But I don't think that anymore

This is my favorite Blue Rodeo song and it has importance for me and my family. Although I am a male, I left home at seventeen as well and it... was quite the time. All in all, a great song I think.
This song has an amazing video
This song and the video seem to speak of the effects of abuse on young women. This one grew up confused in how she related to others - confident on the outside but confused on the inside, and her relationships have elements of suffering.
Blue Rodeo supposedly influenced by James Joyce- particularly The Dead and Dubliners. Rain Down on Me seems to kind of speak for Eveline.
I see it as ..
