i can't believe noone has commented on it yet
it sounds like 2 people in a relationship that, they have a rough past, and they can either forget it and go on with their lives, or just give up their relationship altogether.

and i think its saying that the girl was willing to put the past away, but the guy wasnt. "She waited and waited and waited But they never came"
but he cannot regret cause theres "no turning back"

Well i actually dont know. I dont really like the song much I think it was about someone stabbing someone in the chest and wishing it could be different..but that is obviously a guess from "If we could stop ourselves right here Then what would we do differently In trying to make you see my point I'll bury it deep into your chest"
I think it's about a relationship that kind of drifted apart, "We're as far as far can be" maybe because of the girl cheating so the guy takes revenge and hurts her, or shows her what she did. "In trying to make you see my point I'll bury it deep into your chest" And she finally regrets everything, as the guy moves on and doesn't care anymore. "Now the room is empty, and so are our lives."
I'm not really sure though, that's just a guess.
