showtime Lyrics

put on your best clothes
we've been waiting too long for this moment
i'll put on my best smile
i'm shining inside and i'm proud of our love but
everytime i turn around you say that you're not checking for love in that way
but everytime i come around you seem
so ready for this

showtime our love's coming out
lights camera action show what we're about cuz it's
showtime our love's breaking out
let's show the world you're my boy
i'm your girl cuz it's
showtime our love's coming out
lights camera action let it all hang out
cuz it's showtime
yeah our time is now
let's show the world you're my boy
i'm your girl

let's break a leg out there
this could be the start of the rest of our lives
i've got so much to share
and i'm ready to put it all out there for you
but everytime i turn around you seem
so afraid of what people might say
but can't you see it's a game they play
trying to cast a shadow on our love

i wanna love you when i want to
want to love you where i want to
wanna touch you where i wanna
wanna kiss you when i wanna baby

because it's not fair to love you in chains
it's not fair to love you in chains

I love this song. It's about how she wants to show everyone her man. She wants to show everyone how in love she is... "Showtime.. our love's coming out." But her man seems to be kinda if-y about the whole thing. He's not sure if he wants the world to know they are together... he's "afraid of what people might say." And she wants them to JUST BE TOGETHER and not care about what people might think of them. She doesn't want to feel like she's limited in their love.. like there's something holding them back... "it's not fair to love you in chains."

Keep up the good work, Nelly Furtado. :)

I just heard this song and this is the Nelly I know and love... Its a slower song but I kinda like it. I guess she's just kinda trying out all kinds of styles for this album and I guess I cant blame her.

Beautiful song. To me its seems like a song about celebrity and how sometimes celebrities want somethings to remain private. But that is virtually impossible, so they might as well come out and admit something because there is going to be talk about it anyways. Reminds me of Brangelina, sadly, lol.

I don't think this song is about being a celebrity. I think it's about that moment when a relationship becomes 'official.' It's that step you take when you finally say, "This is my girl, Nelly." The guy has been trying to keep it a secret, but it can't work out like that.

She's hoping it's going to work, because people are going to be watching from then on out.

I've gone back and forth about whether this song is about having a relationship in the public eye. While I agree with dengeist, I also feel it can be about being a celebrity. The "circus" feel of the song makes me think its about having a celebrity relationship. When I first heard it, the melody reminded me of a carnival or circus and how many times have we heard the term "media circus"? I definately don't think that was done on accident.

this is my favorite song from her album. i think it's just about trying to have a relationship with someone, but they are half-assing and not really ready to make the big step into making it official.

its a bit slow...but with faster beat it would be better...and the lyrics are fine...not incredible but just fine... :D
