every day, I sit and look through my window
the cars go back and forth, and they seem to never stop
no one sees me looking at them from my window
and I can be any one of them I wanna be

and you can come watch with me
see the neighbors walking down my street
mowing their lawns, and raking leaves
like you wouldn't believe

everyday I sit and look from my window
when everything's unclear to me
but no one sees me pulling the strings from my window
they can play any character I want 'em to be

and you can come watch with me
see the neighbors up and down street
it's the best selling book on the sylvan screen

This song IS amazing. I could be wholly wrong on this but I just feel like this song is trying to say how completely useless everyone has become.

The protagonist sits and watches others from his window and while no one else sees him and while no one else stops, he doesn't try to stop them or let them know he exists. He just watches other people live their lives without living one of his own.

We move on to society, to the structured world where no one has to worry about anything except mowing lawns, raking leaves. No one tries to see him, no one cares to.

I could just be reading too much into this or putting my own personal bias into the meaning, so please anyone feel free to shoot down everything I said.
