Wow. These are pretty wrong. Here are the correct lyrics, at least from the Confusion recording:

I still like the lyrics from the Confusion recording better than the New Moon version. It seems to make more sense.

The REASON the lyrics are "wrong" here is because they're from a live version. NOT the New Moon version, which was released AFTER the live version came about.

OK... because the new moon version is the only one i'm familiar with

I wish people would get their facts straight before posting.

The new moon version of this song was originally recorded in 1996 and the live version is from 1999, Elliott was a perfectionist and often would alter his lyrics until he felt they were right thus we have different lyrics for the same song. This song was originally titled two timed and only recently (after new moon release) the demo has leaked.

Knowing that he performed this in 1999 one could surmise that theres a demo recorded in this period that was in contention for figure 8.

wow. the new moon version at least is about a relationship, possibly a marriage (thus the dressed all in white bit) that is drifting apart.
