Coffee Spills Lyrics

Spin round the steering wheel the
Coffee spills but you can’t feel
The dam behind your eyes
Turn off the radio, the news is fake
But you can’t tell who’s
Making up the lies
Waking up to find…
Waking up to find…
You don’t love life

Mary-anne you’re late
I’ve been waiting for you for three days
I’m beginning to be afraid
I’ve been looking out the window

Your smoked cigarette is your slow suicide
And you only speak to pass the time
But time’s been passing you
The days feel like they’re getting shorter
The nights are definitely getting colder
I don’t know what you’re going to do
Waking up to find…
Waking up to find…you don’t love life

Mary-anne you’re late
I’ve been waiting for you for three days
I’m beginning to be afraid
I’ve been looking out the window

And I don’t know how this happened
I remember laughing
At the zombies who had no fun
Now you’ve turned into one
I don’t know if it matters
That we’re hanging from the rafters

Mary-anne you’re late
I’ve been waiting for you for three days
I’m beginning to be afraid
I’ve been looking out the window

I asked you “what do you think you’ll find?”
You said “nothing” but you didn’t mind
“It’s all just smoke and mirrors”
I asked you “where do you think you’ll go?”
You said “Nowhere but at least I know
I’m having trouble holding back the years.”

Soo let me start by saying I'm absolutely obsessed with this song. So beautiful. Piano part makes me melt. I think its about a girl that he truely cares about. As they were younger, they had a lot of fun, and he fell in love. As she get older shes beginning to realize that life isnt worth it. She doesnt think that theres anything worth living for. The thing is, he wants to be the thing that makes her love life. I could be very wrong, that's just what i get out of it:)

I think that "Mary-Anne" starts by getting depressed (verse one) and progresses deeper and deeper until she's like the "zombies" that walk around and hate life. In the last verse he's asked her about what she thinks will happen when she dies; she answers that nothing will. The chorus implies, to me, that she has already committed suicide and he is remembering their conversations. It's so sad, but so beautiful. I love this song.

I think it's about a person who's vowed never to become like the generic blue collar zombies who most of us eventually turn into. A mundane life has destroyed her once energetic and carefree spirit.

this song is so beautiful and sad but i love it!.I think its about him remebering a girl who he was friends with and they had fun together and he fell in love with her. the problem is she is depressed and dosent feel that life is worth it anymore. he is relizing that she is changing and is missing the girl he used to know. " And I don’t know how this happened I remember laughing At the zombies who had no fun Now you’ve turned into one I don’t know if it matters That we’re hanging from the rafters" I agree with swimmers. Some of the song is written in pass tense which makes me think that she has comitted suicide and he is remebering thier conversations together "I asked you “what do you think you’ll find?” You said “nothing” but you didn’t mind “It’s all just smoke and mirrors” I asked you “where do you think you’ll go?” You said “Nowhere but at least I know I’m having trouble holding back the years.” i may be wrong...feel free to agree or disagree:)
