Nature of the Experiment Lyrics

We've got our tracks covered
Thanks to your older brother
It's not the moonlight that sets me off
It's not the money that makes me scoff

It's my impeccable disorder
Where I keep on falling for her
It's not the way my mother talks
It's not the people that she mocks

It's the nature of the experiment
It's the patterns of my temperment
It's the nature of the experiment
They're taking me in increments

We're halfway up the bracket
The rain comes through my jacket
It's not the stones inside my shoes
It's not the risk of what's to lose

It's an ancient Russian proverb
But I doubt it's ones that you've heard
It's not the cracks beneath the floor
It's not the fact that it's a chore

It's the nature of the experiment
It's the patterns of my temperment
It's the nature of the experiment
They're taking me in increments

We've got our tracks covered Thanks to your older brother It's not the moonlight that sets me off It's not the money that makes me scoff

(He's getting alcohol or some type of drug from an older brother's friend, it's not the night time that makes him become restless or the money that makes him melancholy)

It's my impeccable disorder Where I keep on falling for her It's not the way my mother talks It's not the people that she mocks (It's this girl he knows that doesn't reciprocate, at least to the same degree, the feelings he has for her...separately it is also not the fact that his mother is unsatisfied with her life.)

It's the nature of the experiment It's the patterns of my temperment It's the nature of the experiment They're taking me in increments (It's the way that people behave in relation to one another, it creates this continuous cycle of his life that slowly takes away his innocence.)

We're halfway up the bracket The rain comes through my jacket It's not the stones inside my shoes It's not the risk of what's to lose (He's halfway up the bracket, he's halfway to where he wants to be in life when the old feelings pour through his "jacket". It's not the everyday discomfort associated with life, it's not the fact that he may fail.)

It's an ancient Russian proverb But I doubt it's ones that you've heard It's not the cracks beneath the floor It's not the fact that it's a chore (Kinda would need to know the proverb for this one, I'm guessing it has something to do with going through the motions to satisfy the people around you.)

It's the nature of the experiment It's the patterns of my temperment It's the nature of the experiment They're taking me in increments (see above)

Just my thoughts

CharlatanSin: On the record that line is sung by a member of Magneta Lane (i.e. a gal). :-)

Isn't it about living in a broing town and getting drunk with a group of friends, and talking about the girl you've basically fancied from the day you met her?

"We've got our tracks covered Thanks to your older brother" I think may refer to either getting alcohol or an alibi so they can stay out all night

"It's the nature of the experiment" I think refers to talking to girls and how when your young it feels like an experiment as you don't really know what your doing

"It's not the way my mother talks It's not the people that she mocks" could refer to him trying to break away from his family and form his own identity

I think basically this song is about growing up

I think this song is about a teenage boy who's fallen in love. When they say "We've got our tracks covered Thanks to your older brother" it means that they have an alibi, because he's going to meet the girl.

It's my impeccable disorder Where I keep on falling for her

He can't help but love her.

It's not the way my mother talks It's not the people that she mocks

His mother doesn't approve of his friends and the girl.

It's the nature of the experiment It's the patterns of my temperment

He's young and talking to girls is new, and experimental.

It's the nature of the experiment They're taking me in increments

The girl is taking more and more of his heart.

That's all i got though, sorry, hoped I helped.

A friend of mine thinks I'm an idiot b/c I am obsessed with this band. I think he's the idiot. Probably one of the best bands this year. I'm actually on my way to pick up the EP now. The singer's voice reminds me of Josh Grier from Tapes 'n Tapes, which is another amazing band (check them out if you haven't already). I eagerly anticipate their next release. Speaking of amazing bands, does anyone like the Thermals as much as I do? The Body, The Blood, The Machine is one of my fave albums this year. I think I prefer Fuckin' A though, although I enjoy both them tremendously.
