I Don't Care Lyrics
I ride this train
In the windswept afternoon
And the sunlight warms the faces
Of the faithless who are waiting
I ride this train
But I need a conversation
Mozambique or was it Veronique?
How about you pick the subject
and I’ll listen to you
People tell me that I feel too much
But I don’t care, I don’t care
People tell me that I need too much
But I don’t care, no I don’t care
I ride this train
In a dreamlike state of mind
Through a field of frozen memories
imagination racing
I ride this train
But I need to make connections
No I wasn’t staring, I was only trying
To get some substance, to get some meaning
People tell me that I feel too much
Oh no ’cause I don’t care, no I just don’t care anymore
As I ride this train
People tell me that I feel too much
But I don’t care, no I don’t care
People tell me that I need too much
But I don’t care, no I don’t care
People tell me that I feel too much
Oh no ’cause I don’t care, no I just don’t care anymore
As I ride this train
As I ride this train (People tell me that I feel too much)
As I ride this train
Can you ride this train? (People tell me that I need too much)
As I ride this train
As I ride this train
(People tell me that I feel too much)
(People tell me that I need too much)
In the windswept afternoon
And the sunlight warms the faces
Of the faithless who are waiting
I ride this train
But I need a conversation
Mozambique or was it Veronique?
How about you pick the subject

But I don’t care, I don’t care

This song sounds so real...Maybe because of the train sound in the background. But you really feel like Darren is trying to make connections with the rest of the world, that seem so distant and cold. I sense that he feels alone and that his kindness, depth and sensitivity are out of place in this world, at least he is in that mood. I relate, I might be too sensitive and 'feel too much' as well and that's not usually a good thing to survive and be mentally 'healthy' today. :(
This was a 'Hold Me' b-side and was included in 'Truly Madly Completely' (2005).
i think this is one of the best savage garden songs.
i guess it's about him just spinning through life, trying to get something real out of it but failing.
No I wasn’t staring, I was only trying To get some substance, to get some meaning
and i also like the juxtaposition of him "feeling to much" but immediately after "not caring".
To me, this song is all about being numb. People tell me that I care too much. But I DON'T care. At least that's how I take it. But that's the beauty of Darren and Savage Garden. The song can mean something different to people, and it's still this incredible and interesting tune.
Conversation with God (hayes) definitely has elements of this song in it.
Bravissime, Savage Garden. This is one of my favorites of theirs, one of the purest sounding songs ever.
