Geek Love Lyrics
In the race to get out of this place
I am checking my face in the back of a spoon
You're accusing me, sir, I'm not here
But I'm here, yes, I'm here
I'm not on the moon
I'm leaving so soon
But don't presume to know shit about me
'Cause I don't know myself
From one day to the next
And I don't pose perplexities purposely
'Cause it isn't a game
It isn't a test, oh no
Hey you, could you give it a rest?
Just take me home, come on and get me undressed
Put on a fire and make it enough
For we're geeks but we know this is love
9AM to the beat of a drum
As we drive through the canyon
I'm feeling the hum of the engine
My head and my heart are aswim
Will your cat be okay?
Your wife is she in?
Your wife is she in?
'Cause I don't presume to know shit about you
When you won't really tell me
Until I beg you to
But I know that perplexity is a wonderful thing
It's a sudden found joy, the strangeness it brings
And now hey you, could you give it a rest?
Just take me home, come on and get me undressed
Put on a fire and make it enough
For we're geeks but we know this is love
This is love, yeah
Geeks but we know this is love
I like that we argue, but not everyday
Your scent in a room and the way that you say
Colour not color, what color today
It's grey, grey, it's grey
Oh hey you, could you give it a rest?
Just take me home, come on and get me undressed
Put on a fire and make it enough
For we're geeks but we know this is love
This is love
Hey you, could you give it a rest?

This is such a pretty song.
i love this song its just so cute =] ♥
its actually
Color not colour, what colour today
its actually
Color not colour, what colour today
This song is so beautiful.
I think it's obviosuly the story of a pair of, um, unconventional, eccentrics (refered to as geeks in our lame society) and how the girl likes their kookyness but soemtimes she just wishes they wouldn't have serious debates about colour and the perplexity of the world and life, she just wants to be undressed, dammit! lols
I love this song, because I'm a secret geek and I secretly love a geeky boy and this is our song, although no one knows it.
I love this song sad smile
I agree with 'I heart lyrics' but I also think that this song has to do with a woman having an affair... cos she asks 'your wife is she in?'...
When I saw Nerina Pallot she played this song and said it is about losing your virginity which would explain "in the race to get out of this place" as everyone is in such a rush to lose it! I think "You're accusing me, sir, I'm not here But I'm here, yes, I'm here I'm not on the moon I'm leaving so soon" means that 'sir' does not believe she is a virgin so she says "I'm here, yes I'm here, I'm not on the moon" and obviously if she's about to sleep with him "I'm leaving so soon" would mean she won't be a virgin any more! I think the whole thing about "don't presume to know sh!t about me" is because he just presumed she'd not be a virgin. And I think "will ur cat be ok? your wife is she in?" just means she isn't just presuming he doesn't have a wife or cat! lol The problem is though she says "we're geeks but we know this is love" but how can it be love already if she doesn't even know if he has a wife!? What do you think?
I'd like to think that this song is about her boyfriend (or whatever he is) being overly philosophical, doubting everything, even her own exsistence ("you're accusing me, sir, I'm not here")- to which she responds frankly, "I'm not on the moon". Furthermore, she tells him that if she can't assume anything ("I don't presume to know shit about you") then, for all she knows, he might have a "wife".
So, whilst they can't find an explanation for why they're there, or why they're "in love", they go along with it and accept, that whilst questioning the universe is fun ("I know that perplexity is a wonderful thing"), reality does exsist because of the evidence that is experiance and the overwhelming simplicity of nature ("Just take me home, come on and get me undressed").
Or it's about losing her virginity and not life, the universe and everything.
