East Coker Lyrics

a town so small you can wave on every block someone knows your name
but far from home when living miles away
you know you're alone
see you move away
wondering why you leave this place or that
when you come back
there's no place to go
buildings touch the sky
sidewalks never end
some streets have no names

i'm really glad someone posted lyrics for this band. it's a shame no one else knows about them...mid 90's emo at its finest! if anyone has the lyrics for "calba's last" or anything off "spelling the name", please post!

really, this song is absolutely spectacular. just so many different sounds thrashing about the place.

incidently i'll be owning spelling the names shortly. hopefully the insert has lyrics, and if so i will submit them.

to contribute an opinion on meaning: i think it's about being from a small town and moving to a big city, and the mixed feelings that are experienced by change. change in the general sense too

i think it's to do with the overwhelming sadness of coming back to your hometown after having made your own life somewhere else, and then realising there's nothing left for you but memories.

the last few lines especially make it sound like the small country village that you grew up in has ballooned into a large city, all traces of what you remember gone. be it people or places. it's letting us know time is quite a destructive thing.

when he sings "some streets have no name" i just cant help but feel my whole body go weak.
