this is about loving someone (friend or partner) even though they have hit self destruct, in this case drinking
Sounds alot like me, so I guess it means to me about someone close to you watching you go through your addictions but still loving the person underneath all the issues and seeing the potential in them.
I see this as someone perhaps with potential shades of codependency feeling helplessly in love with a person suffering. repeated broken promises then leverages lies and deception to justify and blame. resulting in both people suffering. one being patient, empathetic and starting to blame themselves for the problems of the relationship. the other has given up or doesn\'t feel strong enough or just simply does not want to end their addiction and will stay true to their addiction regardless of the consequences. Thus making the choice to favor the addiction over the other person.
