Brighter Days Lyrics
Don't stop even for the right thing
does it matter what I say?
my whole world was by that river
flowing off to meet the sea each day
I don't want to move away.
You look at me and you say "what's wrong boy?"
What else do you want me to say?
I don't want to leave tomorrow
been and gone but I belong here now
Your big world can wait another day.
Brighter days where did they go?
I am hopeful for where I'm going
but I belong in The South
That was where I was born a poor boy
Living life like there's no end in sight
even so I've done without
Brighter days where did they go?
Boy, you're about to hit the bottom
I feel alone, I feel I'm moving there
To a land you never saw and I see you're about to hit the bottom
Lord help me move away to a land you never saw
and I've seen.
Brighter days where did they go?
does it matter what I say?
my whole world was by that river
flowing off to meet the sea each day
I don't want to move away.
What else do you want me to say?
I don't want to leave tomorrow
been and gone but I belong here now
Your big world can wait another day.
but I belong in The South
That was where I was born a poor boy
Living life like there's no end in sight
even so I've done without
I feel alone, I feel I'm moving there
To a land you never saw and I see you're about to hit the bottom
Lord help me move away to a land you never saw
and I've seen.

I played this song over and over as I was packing up after college to leave my laid back life in Mississippi to head for the ambitions of Washington, D.C.
It will always be one of my favorites.
This is my favorite song on the blackwater album. When I first listened to this album I thought that Lochloosa was a much better album, but now I have no idea what I must have been thinking 'cause this album is great, along with Lochloosa. This song is about going away from home. To an unfamiliar place, and you are nervous about leaving into the unknown(because you may fail).
I visited Seattle for two weeks for business. I enjoyed my stay with work. Went around the beautiful city on my own, met a lot of people, had some great food, enjoyed the view of the city and the city (it was spring then). And I met a lady we spent a few days roaming around. She came to see me off at SEA-TACOMA airport before I was leaving Seattle not knowing when I will visit again. We kissed just outside the airport and she drove off with tears in her eyes, tears of joy that we met so suddenly. This was the song I played just the moment i stepped inside airport remising the time spent in the city and with that lady. Listening to this song brings back those memories again, remembering the weather and the drizzle and the feeling of loving every moment spent there.
