this is a great song. he evidently is reflecting on an ex love that he's not ready to let go of, remindinig her when she said she'd always love him, or maybe reminding himself...
I agreee, this really is a great song. It kind of sucks that after absolutely nine days sort of completely fell off the face of the earth. Like seriously no one knows any other songs by them, judging by the lack of comments. Anyway, I think this song is about him thinking about a girl he once loved who left him high and dry. I feel like he's singing this song years later, like he's totally over it, but he's still wondering what he possibly did wrong. The reason it's called the things we said is because it proves that words are only words, since she said she'd always love him and then walked away
