Lullaby Lyrics
They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I was just thinking the same ... how it could be easily interpreted as both, but ... oh, my, the way it was using in 'Medium' just flat had me giggling like a little girl.
So touching and beautiful! I suppose you'd really have to be a fan of the show to understand the underlying context, though an appreciator of the song itself might enjoy it too. Not sure. But being both, it was just incredible! One of the best ways in which I've seen a song used in recent television, hands-down.
Hate to be so literal because I love the discussions on this site, but Natalie Maines said from the stage in Atlantic City they wrote the song for their kids. The comment drew a collective, warming , "Awwww!" to which Maines and the girls grinned in almost embarassment. Then Maines said, half jokingly, "How could anybody hate us?"
this is such a sweet song, in almost a sad way, loving somebody this much.
very simple, very pretty.
I think the song is aimed towards their kids...however it could just as easily work as a love song.
"life began when I saw your face"
this song was featured on the show Medium too.
Is this what heaven sounds like?
I thought Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) was an amazing lullaby until I heard this song and found out what amazing really is!
Beautiful...
"How long do you want to be loved? Is forever enough? Cause I'm never, never giving you up"
Two words....perfectly beautiful.
I love this song... It's a beautiful song about having children, and how they change your life, and how you find a new way to love that you didn't know before.
I love how the beauty and innocence of this song is nestled right before the explosive 'Lubbock or Leave It'.
lol... when i listened to the album straight through, i, too, thought how interesting it was that they placed this song before 'lubbock or leave it'... i was all serene and then i was up. but this song is so freaking amazing!!! everything about it is simply awesome- the lyrics, the harmonies (as with all their songs), the orchestration... it is all so beautiful. they are so talented. i love them!!
