Quetzalcoatl Eats Plums Lyrics
i meant to leave the house this morning
and begin making my way toward where you are
i meant to leave the house this morning
i made it halfway across the front yard
but the plum tree hung heavy in my head
and the plum tree hung heavy in my heart
and the plum tree hung heavy over me
so i tore off to the phone
to call you and tell you something, but i couldn't remember what
because through the clean, clean windows
saw the plum tree's leaves, as red as fresh blood
and the plum tree hung heavy in my head
and the plum tree hung heavy in my heart
and the plum tree hung heavy over me
and begin making my way toward where you are
i meant to leave the house this morning
i made it halfway across the front yard
and the plum tree hung heavy in my heart
and the plum tree hung heavy over me
to call you and tell you something, but i couldn't remember what
because through the clean, clean windows
saw the plum tree's leaves, as red as fresh blood
and the plum tree hung heavy in my heart
and the plum tree hung heavy over me

Honestly, this song reminds me of depression and anxiety. It describes how sometimes that anxiety weighs so heavy. I mean to do a lot of things but there it is - that great big monster - blocking my path and hanging over me, stopping me from doing the things I really want to do.
That plum tree is anything stopping you from continuing with your life. (Not to mention the quetzalcoatl, the mythical diety, being drawn to the plum tree perhaps)
I think this song is about being stoned.

These lines describe perfectly a stoned man's thought process. He runs to the phone to tell someone some great stoned revelation, but is easily distracted by the pretty red plum tree leaves he sees through the window.
this is a great song. i love the guitar in it.
he is scared of a plums
