Blues in Dallas Lyrics
will i see you there when that final trumpet blows?
will i see you there when that final trumpet blows?
if i don't see you there, i will run a comb through my hair.
and i will wait.
i will wait.
i will wait.
will you walk on in when the angel summons you?
will you walk on in when the angel summons you?
if i don't see you go, i will let the minions flow.
and i will wait.
i will wait.
i will wait.
down in dealey plaza, the tourists mill about.
down in dealey plaza, the tourists mill about.
and i am far from where we live, and i have not learned how to forgive.
but i will wait.
i will wait.
i will wait.
yeah.

I'm pretty sure this entire song is from the perspective of the man who shot JFK. Deleay Plaza is where the shooter was located. Think about it that way. It destroys you.

That would surprise me. All of these songs are about the same 7 people (as the album cover indicates) and I don't think Lee Harvey Oswald is mentioned anywhere else on this album.

I think this song is either Jeff singing to Cyrus, or the narrator of the song "Jenny" singing to Jenny.

I can't believe no one has commented on this excellent song yet.
This is the very best Mountain Goats song of all time.
The interesting thing is that it's a ballad on a Casiotone and it just completely stands outside of anything on All Hail West Texas. It's a kind of Greek chorus song, or a giant apostrophe or footnote for the album.
Listen to this song, read Libra by DeLillo, and try to keep yourself together.
Peace.
Someone agrees, thank God.
