Alpha Incipiens Lyrics
the morning comes to a stuttering halt
the cool breeze that blows is somebody's fault
the summer heat tries to burn through
and i look over to warn you but something's happening
the morning glories climb the wall
and you speak in a slow drawl
i'm trying to piece together what you're saying
but the birds are screeching, the hounds are baying
i don't remember there being any hounds around here
we lean back and we clink our glasses
raise the drinks to our thirsty mouths,
and thick as molasses ice cold vodka eases in as
the low pressure system brings the breezes in
and they sashay and pirouette above you
the only thing i know is that i love you
and i'm holding on,
yeah
the cool breeze that blows is somebody's fault
the summer heat tries to burn through
and i look over to warn you but something's happening
and you speak in a slow drawl
i'm trying to piece together what you're saying
but the birds are screeching, the hounds are baying
i don't remember there being any hounds around here
raise the drinks to our thirsty mouths,
and thick as molasses ice cold vodka eases in as
the low pressure system brings the breezes in
and they sashay and pirouette above you
the only thing i know is that i love you
and i'm holding on,
yeah

"Incipiens" roughly translates to "begin." Though an alternative is possibly "to take in hand."
Stupid InterTran.
But that might shed some light on it, anyway.
I always saw this song as an extended metaphor comparing the beginning of the alpha couple relationship to an impending hurricane or other natural disaster.
I like the interpretation that it could be compared to a nuclear explosion, too. There is definitely at least one other song likening the alpha couple relationship to a war ("International Small Arms Traffic Blues" on Tallahassee).
Yeah, I always felt that too. Especially with the last lines- "the only thing i know is that i love you, and i'm holding on."

Morning glories blossom in the morning and then the blossoms die by the evening; so, in Victorian flower language, morning glories seem to have symbolized fleeting affection or "love in vain". Some kinds of morning glories are toxic to animals and still others are considered invasive weeds. Pretty appropriate for the Alphas.
so fucking good
is this song about a nuclear explosion possibly?
