The Pick-Up Lyrics
All things past in the Pick-up
Found my brother's badge
Abaham is live and well in the Pick-up
And his wife cast no more spells
in the Pick-up
Found myself in the Pick-up
Seat belt on my lap
And my sister with her braids
in the Pick-up
Kissed my mother on the face
in the Pick-up
Clapping with the human race
in the Pick-up
Found my brother's badge
Abaham is live and well in the Pick-up
And his wife cast no more spells
in the Pick-up
Seat belt on my lap
And my sister with her braids
in the Pick-up
Kissed my mother on the face
in the Pick-up
Clapping with the human race
in the Pick-up

SUFJAN STEVENS IS A LYRICAL GENIUS. I love it.
It sort of seems like the song's about recovering the body of a brother or other family member.
Or else, it's just about a family car trip.
I think that this is basically just Sufjan's interpretation of a family trip they took as a kid. It's his fresh, brilliant outlook on life from the backseat of a pick-up.
