Paradise Lyrics
After midnight's glow and morning's gloom has settled in its self-inflicted sense of self-loathing. Waking up from the longest dream where we're all running away, running away, it's a sobering experience.
Still sinking, still spinning still hanging by a thread. I've been thinking I'll stop wasting the days away and make life worth living.
Controlling these demons and stopping sirens from screaming. Lapsing in and out of this great escape, a love-hate relationship.
We're all stuck in our ways and as we drown everyday we revel in our self-indulgence and wonder why we feel trapped in our bodies, in our rooms, and in our cities, with our words.

To sum it up I belive this song is about being stuck in a rut & the thought of wanting to do something to break the cycle.

i think its about being in a place you dont want to be and trying to get out of it as soon as possible...and living in your own little world not seeing what everyone else is doing around you...
I think it's exactly the opposite, it's as if someone traped in a world as you described wanted to make it out of there

Basically, it's about the monotony of being stuck in a rut, and the general self-indulgence of it all, like sitting around feeling sorry for yourself, instead of doing something about it. You can't just magically come out of it, you have to fight your way out. Stop wasting time and make your life worth living before it's too late.
I agree with the comment above, but i think it's wider than that. 'We're all running away' suggests a whole group of people- perhaps people who hang around, drink too much, do too many drugs, but never really do anything else. They go to parties, kid themselves there's nothing else in life, but after the 'glow' of midnight, in 'morning's gloom' they realise they're all dreaming about running away.
Essentially then, yeah, it's an anthem to making the most of life and not to falling into the same old routines. Not that partying isn't great, just that any kind of repetitive routine will make you feel empty in the end. It's not a positive song, but there's hope shining through it.
I think the songs about waking up and getting over a funk.
"After midnight's glow and morning's gloom has settled in its self-inflicted sense of self-loathing. Waking up from the longest dream where we're all running away, running away, it's a sobering experience." Clearly a metaphor to the songs meaning. After a long rough night, after a bad experience morning is coming and its comforting to us.
"Still sinking, still spinning still hanging by a thread. I've been thinking I'll stop wasting the days away and make life worth living." The songs actual meaning I believe. It says "Im still hurting, but Im gonna chin up and get over it because I still have a life to live."
"Controlling these demons and stopping sirens from screaming. Lapsing in and out of this great escape, a love-hate relationship." I think this part of the song refers to a sort of story on the album. I think this is the 3rd part of "With a thousand words to say but one" and "sound the surrender"
"We're all stuck in our ways and as we drown everyday we revel in our self-indulgence and wonder why we feel trapped in our bodies, in our rooms, and in our cities, with our words." We need to break the cycle of our self-destruction. We're all stuck in doing so and dont realize it but we wonder why we feel so trapped even though the answers right in front of out faces.
