She's A Woman (And Now He Is A Man) Lyrics
I can see her loading boxes in my mind
Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind
Well things didn't go exactly as they planned
She's a woman and now he is a man
There's a vacancy between them everyday
And a sense of guilt that's not going away
When they get older perhaps they'll understand
She's a woman and now he is a man
And now he's into something that her heart cannot forgive
She's saying to herself, "No, this is not the way to live"
He'll never listen to her 'cause his mind is like a sieve
Oh brother! Oh brother! I'm telling your sister
No way can I resist her
With a guilty feeling hanging in their brain
And the two of them are potentially insane
Well they've had enough which is more than they can stand
She's a woman and now he is a man
I can see her loading boxes in my mind
Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind
Well things didn't go exactly as they planned
She's a woman and now he is a man
Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind
Well things didn't go exactly as they planned
She's a woman and now he is a man
And a sense of guilt that's not going away
When they get older perhaps they'll understand
She's a woman and now he is a man
She's saying to herself, "No, this is not the way to live"
He'll never listen to her 'cause his mind is like a sieve
Oh brother! Oh brother! I'm telling your sister
No way can I resist her
And the two of them are potentially insane
Well they've had enough which is more than they can stand
She's a woman and now he is a man
Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind
Well things didn't go exactly as they planned
She's a woman and now he is a man

This song always kind of confused me. Why is he now only a man? Is the "something her heart cannot forgive" homosexuality? Or is Grant's personal life clouding my judgment? Or is the line "Oh brother! Oh brother! I'm telling your sister. No way can I resist her" suggest he slept with her sister? That would also go well with the previous quoted line.
"I can see her loading boxes in my mind Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind"
The narrator is expecting her to pack up and leave any day
"Well things didn't go exactly as they planned She's a woman and now he is a man"
This is where it gets confusing, because there are several meanings that you can derive. Maybe they're fighting, perhaps physically. But my guess is that they're both cheating on each other.
"There's a vacancy between them everyday And a sense of guilt that's not going away When they get older perhaps they'll understand She's a woman and now he is a man"
This seems to fit in with cheating. But it could also fit in with other things.
And to think, first time I heard this, I thought it was about a woman that got a sex change.
funny, I always thought the song was about a guy who hadn't really grown up until this relationship got really twisted and then fell apart because of either addiction or his attraction to his partner's sister. either one could be the thing her heart could not forgive...
I think he is only a man "now" because the woman is leaving him. While they were together he was overly dependent on her.
