Don't Ask Lyrics
It's a call
I fell into your arms that night
Don't ask
It's the time we had apart to sort things out
Just don't ask
It's the work you say you're doing
But baby, I don't even ask
It's the love that came undone between us
and nobody ever asks
There's a place and time for everything I know
Don't ask
But when I'm around you still I lose control
Just don't ask
You suggest the struggle goes both ways
but baby, I don't even ask
I just wish you had a little faith
but I'm learning not to ask
I fell into your arms that night
Don't ask
It's the time we had apart to sort things out
Just don't ask
It's the work you say you're doing
But baby, I don't even ask
It's the love that came undone between us
and nobody ever asks
There's a place and time for everything I know
Don't ask
But when I'm around you still I lose control
Just don't ask
You suggest the struggle goes both ways
but baby, I don't even ask
I just wish you had a little faith
but I'm learning not to ask

these lyrics fucking gut me
This song kind of made me realize stuff in my relationship with my gf. Its a great song. by a great band. To me, i think its about remembering why you fell in love, and sometimes we shouldnt ask questions or why all the time. Rather than asking you should always trust in what you believe. or trust that person. Best band ever btw.
This song is impossibly beautiful. How can people be listening to the mainstream crap when things like this exist...How can it be done, when there are songs and artists like THIS.
I definitely know what you're talking about! Damn... 3 years ago hahaha

I'm in love with this song.
It's the hard ending of a relationship. You remember the good times that were live together ('I fell into your arms that night') but you just watch the ending coming and there's nothing you can do about it. Even though you're still in love ('But when I'm around you still I lose control'), you just give up ('I just wish you had a little faith but I'm learning not to ask.').
The Final Fantasy remix is sooo beautiful, too.
also the correct line is "it's the work you say you're doing"
I think its about having what is basically a one night stand with an ex you still love. It sounds like she at least wrestles with the idea, too.
I'm not sure if the 'not asking' is about the time spent apart (maybe he's saying they shouldn't know about lovers and e.c. activities) or maybe it's about not talking about whats going on between them (whether they are getting back together), but it sounds like a plea either way. As if the two discussing this would absolutely kill any chance they had.
Gorgeous.
i agree with farbeyondme, to the point at least that it's not a one-night-stand per se, but that it is about two ex-lovers still interacting with one another. it seems like one of them keeps talking about how good things are going in their life "it's the work you say you're doing, but baby, i don't even ask," and the other person can't get over this person, "but when i'm around you i still lose control," and although no one asks about their past relationship, this person still harps on it.

i don't know, this song...
i don't know, this song just really hits home for me.
Very well put. This is exactly how the song makes me feel. Hits home for me as well because I know exactly how the singer feels. Beautiful yet quite a sad song.

I think this and the track after this one on Horn of Plenty, "Alligator", are related. Or they connect together. IDK how, they just seem to me.
I love the mood of this song, and the lyrics are haunting as well. I don't know about you, but I feel like it has a Bon Iver type sound to it. Magical!
