Sister Lyrics

See my hand rolling back on rolling
Brother come over
Summertime all over
So many you get for your head
Pulls me up and
Got me staring that way

I was small you were just a little bit
Taller than me
Sister
Got me movin’

Oh, used to play in the grass
Used to kick my ass when you could
I remember well
Sister
Whoa

Times we fought and times we cried
Afterward my see so good

But times they change
Oh, sister she’s taken
Father he’s swollen away

Sister, she is stolen
And father slips away
Leave just
The rest of us here today

And I go cry
By my window that way
Go cry
In my memories that way

This is the Old Sister from 3/8/94. The lyrics are close, but some are really indistinct, so I just gave it my best shot. There is also a new Sister which doesn't sound very similar to the old one.

IS there anywhere that i could hear a recording of this version of sister? i have the new one but i would like to hear this one... any help?

I love this song, although it was only performed once, and it was completely improvised, it is very powerful. Davs performed this song only a couple of weeks after his sister was murdered. The lyrics covey dave's sorrow concerning the loss of his sister, very powerful and ver emotional.

Dave sang this last night as the first song of his encore last night in St. Louis to kick off the summer tour. He walked out, just him and his guitar. The place went dead silent and he told the story of how he always believed that he and his sister who died back in South Africa were the same. He believed God (or whoever it is, his words) took her heart and gave it to him and she got his heart. He said I have only done this song a could of times so bare with me on this one. He went into it. It was a powerful and amazing song. Reminded me of my brother who died in 2000 from cancer at 29. I was the only one who could have saved him as our bone marrow was matched perfectly, the only greater match would have been if we were twins. I always felt as if I will always have a piece of him and he a piece of me.

This is actually a separate song from the new Sister, rockslide. Both seem to about Anne, though. There are a few similarities between the songs, but for the most part, they are very different.

Here are the lyrics to the new Sister: http://dmbalmanac.com/Lyrics.aspx?sid=304&iid=38653
