Cool Thing Lyrics
We were wrapped up in a blanket
red wine buzz kickin' in
a little Sarasota moonlight
driftwood fire burnin'
she was on break from Ohio State
and I was down there sellin'
parasail rides
just another summer day
till I strapped her in and
watched her fly
Talk about a sunset
all I could see were purples
and reds
and her silhouette wavin' goodbye
she didn't come there lookin' for love
and the cool thing was
neither did I and neither did I
She dipped down in the water
as I slowed down holdin' that line
wet t-shirt on a two piece
we ditched that boat and
hung outside
and we walked ankle deep in ocean
you know that place where
footprints disappear
just like that evenin' she drove away
it'll be burned in my mind for a
million years
Talk about a sunset
all I could see were purples
and reds
and her silhouette wavin' goodbye
she didn't come there lookin' for love
and the cool thing was
neither did I and neither did I
Talk about a sunset

i love this song, but i have to admit... it gets quite confusing. at first, you think both "characters" don't exactly want a serious relationship. (for ex. she didn't come there lookin' for love and the cool thing was neither did I). But then you reach the part of the song where it says... "just like that evenin' she drove away it'll be burned in my mind for a million years". This meaning he was sad about her leaving and that he'll always remember her. usually, those short, 1 day relationships aren't very memoriable.
this song still confuses me. But I think its about two people who meet by chance who neither were looking for anything, but it found them anyway. I dunno.
I think that this song is about a summer romance that neither person expected to experience. And when "she drove away," meaning that summer was over and they had to break up, he would remember her. This kind of reminds me of "The Notebook" when Noah and Allie break up. But anyway, I love this song.
Whew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was a little lost on what the song was about. One thing that surprises me is that the guy in this song doesn't seem too bummed out about how they had to break up. Yeah, "it'll be burned in my mind for a million years"... But otherwise it's pretty much like "ok we had this thing but since realistically it wont work out I'm not gonna be upset about it". Hmm, I don't know. Either way, the chorus gets stuck in my head so easily.. I really like this song! I just wished it was a little more straight forward haha.
I love this song! I just love how it's sung.
This is my favorite Rascal Flatts song. I think it's about two people who meet by chance and they really hit it off. Although neither was looking for a relationship, they seem perfect for each other. Just when things are going good, summer ends and so does the relationship. They are sad because they could see a real future, but they are still happy because they weren't expecting it to happen in the first place.
I have no idea why people think it's confusing... the lyrics clearly state that they weren't looking for love and then they found it. Isn't that how all real love relationships go? You don't go in search for a serious relationship you go in search for someone who is compatible with you and then try to make things work...
