So true... everyone has a summer they want to remember.
I love how they're talking about the one happy passion-filled summer - but it's ruined by them clinging to the past. A bit too plausible for my liking, but brilliant.

I keep hearing
"I don't believe I ever, I don't, I don't believe we ever got together"
But I can also hear the lyrics posted here, which is weird, since they're both completely different in meaning. The one I'm hearing seems like the guy is trying to forget about the girl, or is saying he can't believe that he ever liked that girl for whatever reason. The lyrics here make it seem like the relationship is falling apart and they want to work it out and keep it going.
