I Don't Like It Like This Lyrics
words fail me all the time
I don’t even feel like talking
still I go on and on
I’m dying here and you keep walking
why are you asking me this?
can’t you see I’m trying?
I don’t like it like this
no I think I’m dying
I can’t calm down at all
panic is what panic feels like
can’t we just stay silent?
speaking now seems far too violent
why are you asking me this?
can’t you see I’m trying?
I don’t like it like this
no I think I’m dying
I don’t even feel like talking
still I go on and on
I’m dying here and you keep walking
can’t you see I’m trying?
I don’t like it like this
no I think I’m dying
panic is what panic feels like
can’t we just stay silent?
speaking now seems far too violent
can’t you see I’m trying?
I don’t like it like this
no I think I’m dying

to me, it sounds like there could be two speakers. they're arguing, or having a tiff. i especially like the second verse when he says, "i can't calm down at all/ panic is what panic feels like" as the first speaker, who's getting kind of pissy and irritable. and then, "can't we just stay silent/ speaking now seems far too violent," as the second speaker's trying to keep him/her calm or to avoid the issue they're fighting about. who knows...
maybe it's too simple, but...to me this song describes perfectly how i feel when i'm falling for someone and nothing is happening...at least not yet. so you just keep talking and it gets frustrating.
I've always perceived this song to be about panic attacks caused by anxiety, much more than a discussion itself. Not that the idea of being in an argue is quite wrong, but I think the lyrics are more focused on showing the person is going through a bad time and everyone around seems to ignore - or simply don't care. As someone who've been diagnosed with panic disorder, I personally can really relate to every single word used.
"Words fail me all the time I don’t even feel like talking"
When you're on a breaking down, having a hard time breathing and, well, don't really feel like talking. You try to reach to others still but you act really... monosilabic: "I'm dying here", and people act like you are joking or exaggerating (which might be true at some extent, but the feeling is real): "and you keep walking"
"Why are you asking me this? Can’t you see I’m trying?"
When you're trying to go through all this and people be like "are you really serious" or "chill dude"
"I don’t like it like this No I think I’m dying"
When your skin runs pale and you feel like your heart is beating too fast, your head is pricking and you feel like you're collapsing
"I can’t calm down at all Panic is what panic feels like Can’t we just stay silent? Speaking now seems far too violent"
When people keep telling you to calm down, but you simply can't, otherwise you wouldn't be at that situation to begin with, and all you want is that person not to ask you anything anymore, just show their support, asking what can they do for you or not saying anything at all
simple lyrics made by simple words wich all-together have meaningful connotations depending on your emotional state..., really like it, i predict it will be much more commented after marie antoinette...
Funny, I didn't even realize this was on the marie antoinette soundtrack until I read the comment above.
I pretty much agree with tromayans.
haha i think the radio dept. songs were the only thing that made marie antoinette as good as it was. whoever choose that soundtrack did a fantastic job.
This song couldnt be any better!
This is a fantastic song... It's making me want to see the movie!
i love listening to this when i feel quiet and lonely. it's so comforting, it's one of my lullabyes, since i'm an insomniac.. radio dept. makes such pretty music!
the words are put together so well. I bet many people feel like this. I just discovered their music and again I have found another great swedish band.
Absolutely stunning lyrics. Amazing how they manage to encapsulate so much with so little.
