Pulling Our Weight Lyrics

In time we might walk the straight line
But with memories of a grapevine
A guitar, as we came close from far
Forgot about the war
We barely touched
As if being watched

And even in time
We’ll give in to crime
We’ll be on the line
Pulling our weight

Many miles from where I’m sleeping
You share laughter in the evening
As do I, in the great divine
Yours is mine
We’ll find love
The kind we’re dreaming of

And even in time
We’ll give in to crime
We’ll be on the line
Pulling our weight

I can't help thinking this song is about war. It seems really obvious, about a couple who are separated by the war. The mention of the 'line' and 'pulling our weight' for the war effort. They want to be together but all they can do is dream of it at the moment.

I LOVE this song by Radio Dept. I think it talks about how a relationship he had Before, but now that theyre far away. "Many miles from where I’m sleeping You share laughter in the evening" And how theyll be back with eachouther soon "We’ll find love The kind we’re dreaming of" I kinda think its a part 2,to Always a Relief by them But Im not to sure,Because Im always a relief it talks About him being hurt to, Guess well never know.

this is SUCH a good song.. i like the beat and the music.. everything about it.. it's sad, and sweet. brilliant. i think it's obviously about a past love.. 'But with memories of a grapevine' and the shyness and innocence of it at first, 'We barely touched As if being watched'. I think it's about a realtiionship that holds many memories in the past.. even though they may have broken up, it's like they can still sense and feel each other.. as he's looking back on the situation, 'Yours is mine We’ll find love The kind we’re dreaming of' but they want different things.. its hopeful in the sense that they may each find the type of love they want from other people.. but not from each other. whatever it means.. its amazing

A truly wonderful song. To be honest, the lyrics don't really do it for me, it's the beat. the guitar riff the starts off the song, that eerie late 90's indie vibe. It's kind of sad, but in a very sweet way. Just by listening to the song it's about great memories, and even if they're (Radio Dept. listeners of the song) are sad thinking about how great things used to be, there is a certain amount of hope for the future, and your glad for the happy times, even if they arn't there anymore...

such an amazing song :) my favorite. it was on the marie antoinette soundtrack, and i fell in love.

"And even in time Well give in to crime" reminds me of having an affair?

"Yours is mine Well find love, The kind were dreaming of" reminds me of not loving who youre with, and dreaming of someone else and hoping you find that person.

"In time we might walk the straight line. But with memories of a grapevine" they'll get over themselves and just live in it? idk. but i love his voice, and the drums and the synth. sweeeeeeeeeeet*
