For a Dreamer, Night's the Only Time of Day Lyrics
The busy streets
And the even busier
Patrons and vehicles
Argue my elusive steps
Through the blur of urgency
Here, I'm always on my toes
Until an abrupt blond door
Stowing a porcelain blond girl
Knock me right onto my back
And for a moment we're alone
And we both know that we're trapped
If morning never brings
Salvation for either one of us
Leave me and save yourself
I'll only slow you down
Breathe in slowly
Are you listening?
On this muted block
Everything is paused
You glow, blinding
Breaches my pupils
I taste your skin, I see our kids
I manage to siphon
Some breath from out my gut
Tell you to take my hand and run
I'll be waiting for you to come home
Extra, extra read all about it
A corporate head's been murdered!
His secretary found him
Scandal, slander
Catch all the gossip
From what I hear
The chief executive deserved it
Let's leave tonight at dusk
When the lights shine bright
Miles of cracked, crooked paths
Lit by buzzing filament
And neon glass
If morning never brings salvation
Leave me and save yourself
I'll always love you
And the even busier
Patrons and vehicles
Argue my elusive steps
Through the blur of urgency
Here, I'm always on my toes
Stowing a porcelain blond girl
Knock me right onto my back
And for a moment we're alone
And we both know that we're trapped
Salvation for either one of us
Leave me and save yourself
I'll only slow you down

Lit by buzzing filament

I'll always love you

My favorite song on this album, hands down. About finding love in a prison of a town, and hoping to set your true love free, even if it means freeing her from yourself.
That's my take on it.

This song is filled with Newsies refrences. The title, obviously, and most of the lyrics allusion to the movie in some way, especially the very beginning, end, and the "exta! extra!" part.

I love it. I love it. I love it. I'm not sure what it means but the song is amazing. I saw them live. They're even more amazing.

this song is awesome i cant believe hardly any people have commented on forgive durden. haha give it time people always seem to find their way to the good bands eventually.
i dont have that much to add to the meaning of the song. i change what i think about this song almost everytime i listen to it.
I adore the lyrics of this song, but the song itself isn't all that great for me. I don't think the vocals or the music need to be so "hard." For me, the words would be better felt if the song was sung the way they do at minute 3 of 4, the entire way through...
This song is great! In my opinion, it's about falling in love, and then realizing that you might have to let go of that person so that they can lead a better life.
my interpretation is that the speaker is trapped in a life that he hates, such as his work, everyday behavior, etc. the busy life he leads causes him to pass up time to appreciate the world around him until he sees a blonde woman while walks through the busy town. he instantly falls in love, sees a future with her, and decides he is willing to abandon his life to run away with her. thats the obvious part. as far as the "extra, extra" part...it could be interpreted in different ways. just to put something out there, chief executive could have been murdered by the speaker because he was in the way of the speaker's goals to run away with the girl. that's my take on it anyway. this song is amazing and the part when he screams after that extra extra part is an awesome way to close the song.
