I wanna see you tonight
What's the point?
All we do is fight
I've loved you
So long
I don't know who I'd be without

My head hurts
I wish I'd never woke up
I feel worse
Than when S Club 7 broke up
I hate the day
It hates me
So does everybody else

I sit here drooling on my own again
And like a routine episode of Friends
What does it mean to be American?
Is it
Feelings, coffee and
I'll be there for you?

Later on me and a bottle will hook up to have some fun
Then I'll call your house at twelve to let you know
That I'm drunk
Say I'm sorry Mr C, I was just looking for your son
How are you, incidentally, do you know if he's out
Alone?
There is this book he lent to me something like seven
Months ago
I'm gonna burn it in the street be so kind as let him
Know
That I'm dealing
With this badly
And
Could he please get back to me?

Since you've gone my only friends are Billy Bragg and
The Jam
Though my time with you has got me feeling oh so k.d.
Lang
I think you're right about the New Kids on the Block
And I agree now Billy Joel does not rock

Wish I could tell you all the things that Woody Allen
Helps me see
How Annie Hall is starting to seem quite a lot like you
And me
It took a while to come around to David Bowie's new CD
And it's much too late to give back your Magnetic
Fields EP
Can I keep it
By my pillow?
Fucking loved it
How I long to tell you so

When I get to sleep I'll dream again of canopies and
Grapes
And wake shaking from the knowledge that the mattress
Holds your shape
I assume my phone is dead because it hasn't rung for
Months
If tomorrow is the funeral do you think that you could
Come?
I could give you back your music and your t-shirts and
Your socks
Walk to Jazz's house in SOHO cry into her letter box
Spend some time out to resuscitate my soul
Take up smoking and drink carrot juice and grow
Teach the mattress to expel you from its folds
Then dry my eyes and keep on walking til the motion
Makes me strong
Until one day I realise I don't remember that you're
Gone
We'll be strangers
Who were lovers
I'll recover
It's so weird how time goes on

magnetic field teepee = Magnetic Fields EP.

C'mon, I can't be the first person to visit this page that knows who the Magnetic Fields are. They're amazing!

i know some of the words are probably wrong.. and i particularly don't get the third verse. but i love how the whole song is bursting with this whole bunch of words. i also love the part where she goes "could he please get back to me?" cos she's asking his dad to get him to call her back and she's kinda begging him to come back at the same time.

For some reason this song makes me think of a friend of mine who was killed. Even though this is a song about the loss of a romantic relationship, the sense of grief it expresses is so similar to what I've felt.

This song is just too good to be true. I know it's basically simple, about the breakup of a relationship, but somehow I always get from it that she has no real claim on her lover anyway, maybe she was just friends with this guy but had secret feelings for him? I'm rambling, though.

The line, "And wake shaking from the knowledge that the mattress holds your shape" is what got to me. After a few listens, i realised it's: teach the matress to expel you from its folds :)

Personally i think this song is about the death of her lover.

"And it's much too late to give back your magnetic field EP" "Until one day i realise I don't remember that you're gone"

I believe it's about dealing with death, and how she is in denial for so long about it.

I don't that this song is about the death of a lover. I think its simply the death of a relationship something that in its self requires a kind of mourning. Her difficulties are just in letting go of a realationship that has obviously shaped her.

"I've loved you. So long I don't know who I'd be without"

I think this is how anyone whos been with someone for a period of time feels. It's accepting that things will never quite be the same again.

"We'll be strangers who were lovers I'll recover It's so weird how time goes on"

I love this song and all of Emmy Lees songs mainly because it speaks of things that all of us do and the reactions are the way that all of us react.

Anyway im more than likley talking nonsense now.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
