Aurora Lyrics

Are you comfortable with the skin you’re in?
Are you screaming loud enough to be important?
Are you following the path that you thought you would or wouldn’t?
And you backed it all along when you’re pulling from what’s inside; it's honest there.
It took all these nights alone.
Alone we are.
Aurora, don't leave me out.
Your lipstick-stained life is arriving.
So at ease with the night that we drove along.
From the top of the hill where we conquer.
And the stop where we claim our life, our place, forever.
And we dreamt it all along, from the nights when the line stayed alive, we shared.
In hope I speak your name for closure.
By a thread we’ll hang, to never give in.
Tonight may be the last night in these shoes.

ha! im the first 1! I think the meaning is between the crazyfists and aurora. Aurora is a place...but I duno what context they may be using it in here. I think perhaps that he's suggesting they or just 1 person, is going to commit suicide in the end or something. "Tongiht may be the last time in these shoes" and "And the stop where we claim our life". hmmm...I dnt actually know what im tlking about....

Taken from the Crazyfists site .... "Aurora" is about the magnificence of the Northern Lights and how they reflect the magic of love and life

isn't it "Aurora, don't leave me yet"?

I like the idea of the Northern Lights, and i think that they may be reflected in the song. I think that to begin with this song seems like it could be the ending of a relationship. But to use SammySins idea of the Northern Lights, the end of the song seems positive, maybe something has made the couple decide to stay together "By a thread we'll hang, to never give in" and maybe it was witnessing the Northern Lights that made them change their minds. Alternatively, the line "by a thread.." may have something to do with the band, as they're native of Alaska, maybe the Northern Lights are visible from there? (I'm from Scotland so i dunno that for certain :p) Just a couple of ideas :)

I've got the feeling that 'Aurora' is referring to a person (and a she because of the "lipstick stained life"). And that its the story of someone who's following their dreams but maybe not the right way hence "Are you following the path that you thought you would or wouldn’t?". The "Are you comfortable with the skin you’re in?" is Brock questioning this person's way of getting to what he/she desires, A song about someone drifting away from him and he's trying to hold on by a thread. My opinion anyway x

well i think it's got to be about nothern lights. green or red beautiful displays of colour in the sky often in polar places like alaska which is where crazyfists are from. obviously these displays of colour in the sky don't often happen so...This bit could be about them seeing nothern lights and they don't want them to leave because it's so beautiful and tonight may be our last night in these shoes must be about them probably not seeing them again. "Aurora, don't leave me yet. Aurora, don't leave me yet. Your lipstick-stained life is arriving. Your lipstick-stained life is arriving. (Tonight may be the last night in these shoes"

that's my idea. i'd like to see more people interested in song meanings please:)

I feel like the northern lights were used as a metaphor in place of a girl. And as some of the lyrics lead to the girl taking her life. So the not wanting the lights to leave him yet would mean he doesnt want something so beautiful to leave him and burn out so soon (by taking their life).

Im inclined to think this way to do a personal experience with a person with depression problems who seemed to act extremely similar to the potential girl in the song. So I could be wrong .. but most every line seems to fit this girl and situation.

The first 3 lines point out the insecurities in this girl and the 4th goes on to explain that when you really talk to her about it her thoughts on the inside are what causes her to have these insecurities.

Then when it goes on to the "So at ease with the nights we drove alone ..." are like how in my experience this person (this girl) that can have some days where they are just so insecure and feel so lost , can on some occasions just be so comfortable (at ease) on the nights when you take them out and just have a special time with them ("from the top of the hill where we concquer" , could jsut refer to a place where they hung out so happy together).

The "We dreamt it all along, from the nights when the line stayed alive, we shared" I seems to talk about hte nights they talked on the phone together for hours where they shared their feelings (about her insecurities and what not).

And sometimes when life just gets hard for this person it seems like they are barely hanging on ("by a thread well hang on, to never give in")

and to point out the reason for me to believe the story is about a suicidal/depressed girl the last line refers to the last night in her shoes.

Sorry about the spelling mistakes ... and like I said I could be wrong but its just an attempt I felt like sharing
