this song actually sounds tortured..if that's even possible idk the way anthony drags out his "oohs" it makes me wanna give him a hug. when i first heard this song though, the first thing i screamed was "TRUMPET!" gotta love it..
he's really depressed. talks about how pop is all over the media, even if the earth is almost gone-pop is there for people to hear about. it's like he's being tourtoured. feels like he';s in the middle of a storm... around the world ppl are in disasters, but ppl are stupid and just listen to the media, which is sickening

This song is about depression , i agree. But i think " because I'm happy to be sad " shows that the song is also about persons that like to be sad, because it helps them to handle a hard situation.

WOW. A traditional RHCP style song. It's great - new stuff like stadium arcadium - but keeping the old groove too. Great, upbeat yet downtowned song. The lyrics are clearly talking about a whirlwind of emotion and circumstance that is bringing him down. It's like everything is tormenting and torturing him and he'll just sit back at take it. He's 'happy to be sad' and he'll take the torture. Thanks to laurz, he feels like he's in the middle of a storm and around the world are disasters he can't stand.
Torture me really reminds me of throw away your television. It's just sort of that type of style & the upbeat heavy sounds. I dunno if anyone else'd think that or is it just me? (i wouldn't say taytv live sounds like torture me)
yeah haha i actually get the whole television thing. i think AK is also dealing with frausteration with the world here, not just depression. he's annoyed that everything seems so superficial, from the media to maybe his friends, etc. i don't know, just a thought!
