Deep Honey Lyrics

your wild lies
always start with wide, white lines
summer shine
your wild lies
always start with wide, white lines
summer shine

you don't like the dark
fringed by silver sea
always brave and pert
sunday sun, you're up

keep, don't stop now
me and you

your wild lies
always start with me
don't come

you don't like the dark
you don't like this star

tears start
sunday sun, you're up

you don't like the dark
moon is on the sky
you don't like the stars
shining down
tears start

sunday sun below
below
oh below
you walked in the sunshine
warmed you alive
dark
and you were loved

this is obviously a drug reference. if anyone ever had a friend or been with someone on cocaine knows they're pretty much doing it for themselves and no one else and they dont care who they lie about - "your wild lies always start with wide, white lines"

"you don't like the dark you don't like this star

tears start sunday sun, you're up "

obviously a reference to being tweaked and always up.

I really wish people would stop going to Goldfrapp songs and saying they're about drugs. I mean, Goldfrapp's songs are very often about pure emotional being and feeling, not particularly about any specific situation really. It does seem to be very much about betrayal or even a sad sort of contemplation on a relationship.

I have to agree with the previous poster, AncientNova. If you try to manipulate a song's lyrics in any way, ANY song in this world could be about drugs. Alison's lyrics are very dreamlike, very sparse - she uses very few words to express a lot of emotion. I think this song is about someone who obviously tells little lies and is slowly pushing someone away - tears start. I find Goldfrapp's music to be very interesting because the lyrics definitely tell something, but the music tells more. This song is so mysterious and just irradiates sadness and confusion.

My Interpretation

I can't truly say what the son is about i just love it. I love the atmosphere. It's kind of gloomy and full of mystery. In some parts Alison Goldfrapp sings and then begins to whisper which even puts more mystery to it. If I had to imagine a story to this song I'd say that it's about a woman who is with a guy and he's cheatin on her. And he tells her all the lies about where he spent the previous night and whom with and doesn't even guess that she might already know that he's a lyer. She's a bit shoked because he doesn't feel guilty or something. However, they stay together because she is still attracted to him. When he's away she cries but can't let him go. I know that my fantasy is playin trcks on me ;)

This is my favourite song on Black Cherry. I really love the whispering part! The lyrics are incomplete though. The last two verses should read:

you don't like the dark moon is on the sky you don't like the stars shining down tears start

sunday sun below below oh below you walked in the sunshine warmed you alive dark and you were loved

I'm pretty sure the second verse starts with

"You just don't love me and you [????]"

It's a little bit clearer in the Somerset House live recording.

Great song, in any case. Haunting.

Come on the song where it says pool side like and just roll in your saying is not about drugs? could it be about anything else. I think she make it pretty clear on that song. But yes most songs are not about drugs and about emotions.

@Devilyou916 I'm sorry it was pool side line. Just roll in.

hate to break it to you guys (frenched & nova) but you have to face it its about drugs like a ton of her other songs. (and yes lucy in the sky with dimonds is about LSD there may be a nice excuse about a drawing but its about an acid trip)
