Hem Of His Garment Lyrics
Oh I wish I could be
Touched by the hem of his garment
To be proud has never been
So mean, so stern, so cruel
Oh I wish I could be
Touched by the hem of his garment
Oh, I've come a long way
To touch the hem of his garment
And anger should be
The tool of a clown or a fool, you see
And why should such spite and such pain
Hang between you and me
When love should be
A queen on her throne
Looking after her own
I wish I could be
Touched by the hem of his garment
Two chairs at this table
One bed in this house
Seriously, I think we could be,
Touched by the hem of his garment
Oh, I've come a long way
To touch the hem of his garment
Touched by the hem of his garment
To be proud has never been
So mean, so stern, so cruel
Oh I wish I could be
Touched by the hem of his garment
To touch the hem of his garment
The tool of a clown or a fool, you see
And why should such spite and such pain
Hang between you and me
When love should be
A queen on her throne
Looking after her own
I wish I could be
Touched by the hem of his garment
One bed in this house
Seriously, I think we could be,
Touched by the hem of his garment
To touch the hem of his garment

is it just coincidence that dido's brother is in faithless who did the same song? or was sort of a duet? help please...
it's about medieval romance - the temptation of servant girl wanting to be king's mistress or even wife
This song speaks to the need for healing in a relationship. Dido uses the biblical story of the woman with the "issue of blood" who has been lonely for many years when she comes to Jesus and says that if she could but touch the hem of his garment she would be free and healed from that which keeps her an outcast. She comes without pride and is past her anger over the curse of her desease, she believes and is healed. The writer wants to let go of her pride because now it is beginning to rob her, she realizes that it is a double edged sword. She also talks about letting love rule and designates anger as a tool for a clown or fool. I like this song...it's hopeful.
