You know what? I don't think this is intended as the blatant "don't fuck with me" message some are interpreting it as.
Most of the songs on the Tower of Love album are songs about music. Mr. Noir is obviously a musician in love with the craft, and it would seem to follow then that "My Patch" refers to something involved in making music, specifically, a patch cord. That would be the one going from his guitar to the amp, which he is advising you not to step on!
In other words, don't interrupt Jim while he's in the zone making music. He will bring you down!
