Secrets Lyrics
Everyone's got secrets, dirty little secrets
Have I got one on you
Although they may be secrets, they may show your weakness
Well are they really true
Don't tell your mates on the council estates
Cos there's no one to trust
Don't tell the sky as it spits down in your eye
But tell a priest if you must
Cos everyone's got problems, everyone's got problems
And everyone's got stress
Controlling our relations, avoiding situations
Thatn end up in a mess
Don't be afraid if your thoughts are mislaid
Cos there's nothing to fear
Don't get upset if your memories make regrets
Because we've all got them here
Secrets, secrets, secrets
Are for keeping, keeping, keeping
And if your tell them
They lose there meaning
Have I got one on you
Although they may be secrets, they may show your weakness
Well are they really true
Cos there's no one to trust
Don't tell the sky as it spits down in your eye
But tell a priest if you must
And everyone's got stress
Controlling our relations, avoiding situations
Thatn end up in a mess
Cos there's nothing to fear
Don't get upset if your memories make regrets
Because we've all got them here
Are for keeping, keeping, keeping
And if your tell them
They lose there meaning

first post again, man i love this album, could listen over and over. think it explains itself this song, secrets are bad,try not to make secrets in the first place coz there always bad, theres no such thing as a good secret, they will eat at you and can reveal the real you and what your like
doesnt mean that at all. I think its about everyone having their own problems but hiding them from everyone else. It appears from outside that nobody else has problems. the upbeat, happy go lucky tone of this tune hides the "dirty secrets" or problems of the Zutons.
I partly agree with person above me, but I think that the singer thinks that everyone should keep their secrets to thelselves because everyone has them, and if they were all out it would be a mess of everyones problems. I think that the singer is telling you that you are not the only one to have problems, and just because you have them does not mean that everyone needs to know. That's my interpretation anyway- there isn't a wrong or right interpretation of any song.
Statement to Rupert Murdoch and the tabloid phone-hackers perhaps? Only joking :)
