Try Again Lyrics

I fell asleep on a late night train
I missed my stop and I went round again
Why would I want to see you now?
To fix it up, make it up somehow

Baby I'll try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time
What I was isn't what I am
I'd change back but I don't know if I can
Still I'll try, try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time

But I was made the way I am
I'm not a stone; I'm just a man
Lay down your arms and I will lay down mine
Rip back the time that we've been wasting

God I wish you could see me now
You'd pick me up and you'd sort me out
Baby I'll try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time

This is the best song on the album along with Atlantic. I can't pick between the two.

This song gives me goosebumps. It laments about past mistakes and the effect it had to make one change... and then surrendering to it, desperate for a relief that is no where in sight.

I listen to this song late at night under the night sky. It's amazing to listen to this while looking up at the stars.

This song is SO strong, gives me goosebumps! Especially the part "Lay down your arms and I will lay down mine. Rip back the time that we've been wasting"

For me it's about love and failure. I think it's about Tom's drugs problems. And the part "What I was isn't what I am. I'd change back but I don't know if I can" and "I'm not a stone; I'm just a man". It's about being a person he doesn't like, and he is trying to make it up. To the people he love and to himself.

I just wanted to say that I love keane, I'm a huge fan! =)

I totally agree with ebbaba's interpretation....i think its about the mistakes we made and how we try to mend them, even knowing that sometimes its hard and we can fall down again.

i love keane´s songs :)

I like this song, it's alot quieter than the other songs, with no drum beat for part of it and a gentle keyboard bits sigh. Sounds like he's trying to 'try again' at a relationship but in his heart he knows it's not really working, and his confused in himself as well. Actually not sure which one of those two it is..hhmm...

sooo much better than the O2 Wireless arrangement with Rufus Wainwright, it is just better with just Tom's high voice! however, i think an "acoustic" arrangment, similar to This is The Last Time was done, would make this song one of the best ever!!

I became a Keane fan after Hopes and Fears . UTIS is shaping up to be even a better album though . This song is my current favourite just because of its innocence, purity and simplicity .

it seems like he is trying to patch things up with someone (friend, lover, who knows) and feeling like he has changed so much that its pointless but yet somehow this person will help him fix the problems he finds with himself.

It's probaly not, but it kinda sounds like he's struggling with an addiction... that he juat can't escape... and it's slowly torn his relationships with several people apart

"Lay down your arms and i will lay down mine, rip back the time we've been wasting" Resonates with a lot of people. maybe 2 friends, both too similar and both have tried at being lovers? Maybe the friendship is what is needed more here "God i wish you could see me now, you'd pick me up and you'd sort me out" - sounds like something a tough friend would do. However - the idea of an addiction (whether substance relatd or just habituality (is that a word?)) does add another dimension the song. Thanks mojo_pin1 :-).

Yes... it is nice under stars. Especially at the end.

I found the UTIS a difficult album to get into at first listen but it's really rewarding if you keep going.

That said, this and Atlantic are instantly likeable.
