The Path Of Least Resistance Lyrics

The path of choice optimal
The labyrinth unsolved
Haunting the complex of these halls
Adrift upon the massive waves
This godforsaken maze
Suddenly returning to the haze

Guiding star shine bright tonight
And light up my path
Time has come to know myself

Least resistant path
Burning signals I’m finding
Least resistant path
Things to be said and done
I burn with the flames
Float with the uncontrolled waters
My soul flies with the breeze

Perplexed in vast complexity
Ghost in the machinery
Seeking the exit constantly
Facing a hopeless endeavour
Being one's own saviour
Lost without a guiding star

Guiding star shine bright tonight
And light up my path
Time has come to know myself

Least resistant path
Burning signals I’m finding
Least resistant path
Things to be said and done
I burn with the flames
Float with the uncontrolled waters
My soul flies with the breeze

With every corner turned my heart sinks
A mirage lights my hope again
That silhouette could be anything
But I’m beyond the realm of reason

Least resistant path
Burning signals I’m finding
Least resistant path
Things to be said and done
I burn with the flames
Float with the uncontrolled waters
My soul flies with the breeze

Guiding star shine bright tonight
And light up my path
Time has come to know myself
The path of least resistance

I believe this song is about how humans constantly tries to get answers for every action the universe has done. The universe is unfathomably complex, but we still try to wrestle with our theories, gaining closer and closer to the real truth.

On the way though, some of us fall into traps of irrational thinking, and decide this is what we will define as "truth". As Scar Symmetry has always hinted their dislike of religion, I do believe The Path of Least Resistance is giving little thought to facts, and instead having a theory, then bend the facts around that theory; instead of actually follow the facts that define a new theory.

It also speaks about the hardships of those of us that really do seek out the truth, as we are constantly challenged by those under the belief that they already know the truth, yet they do not. Even still, they really do belive this falsehood, and are vigorous in their beliefs.

Too analyze a small part, but the most important in my opinion, is the 3d verse:

"Perplexed in vast complexity Ghost in the machinery Seeking the exit constantly Facing a hopeless endeavour Being one's own saviour Lost without a guiding star"

The first line talks for itself, the universe really is extremly complex, it is frustrating not too understand all of it. Therefore, we get unsure of ourselfs - and often seek comfort instead of whats reality.

The second and third line speaks of our desire to always push on to get answers, an explanation of some sorts so that we can deal with it more easily. To say "we do not know yet", can be unacceptable to certain personalities, unfortunatly.

The last three lines speaks of the frustration of not being able to help oneself even though you as a consiousness are alone to change your thoughts. "Indoctrinated in false grace" as SS mentions in another song comes to mind, makes you weak in the ability to define scientific values as your statements and really change your way of thought.

You are often unconsiouslly being learnt not to trust yourself by society, yet this is a fundamental part of being able to achieve a higher state of consiousness.

My thoughts of this atleast.
