Black Fingernails, Red Wine Lyrics

Black fingernails, red wine
I wanna make you, all mine
Lotta people, underground
You wanna get there
You gotta go straight down

(Woah Oh)
Straight down (Woah Oh)

There’s a culture, everywhere
Smoke clouds, hang in the air
So loud, cant hear you talk
You can lie
Or take a walk downtown (Woah Oh)

Straight down (Woah Oh)
Downtown (Woah Oh)
Straight down (Woah Oh)

CHORUS
the argument over god continues (in this house)
all of us stand and point our fingers (to the ground)
all of us stand and point our fingers....

(Woah Oh)
Straight down (Woah Oh)

Red letter day, black heart
Its gonna tear you, all apart
So loud, cant hear you call
You and I
Gotta fall straight down (Woah Oh)

Straight Down (Woah oh)
Downtown (Woah oh)
Straight down (Woah oh)

CHORUS

(Woah Oh)
Straight down (Woah Oh) x3

Black fingernails, red wine
I wanna make you, all mine
Lotta people, underground
You wanna get there
You gotta go straight down

CHORUS

the argument over all continues (in this house)
all of us stand and point our fingers (to the ground)
all of us stand and point our fingers

(Woah Oh)
Straight down (Woah Oh) x3

pretty good new song from EJ, more rocky than anything from their last album, which is a good change as i preferred "Girl." I dont think the lyrics are 100% atm.
Black fingernails, red wine, i dont know but by going on the film-clip, its about 'getting your hands dirty'=black fingernails and then trying to clean up the evidence: red wine= blood. i think it might be a bit more involved then that though.

hey guys.. yeh i heard one of the band members on triple M and i can't remember his exact words but he said the song was about like culture kind of thing how wen u step into a club theres always an argument usually about religion.

I think cassiie may be right, the argument about religion is really big. It only takes 2 people to fight about religion, and it starts a whole war. THERE IS NO POINT, they gain nothing from it.

This song is good, I think it is a reflection on the whole religion causing wars aspect of life. But, perhaps it's my hearing, but I thought the chorus was "Arguments over God continue this hell, all of us stand and point our fingers at the ground". But it's clear that Eskimo Joe are playing with different sounds, and their experimentation is paying off.

Yeah "......and justice for all" : )

Anyone else think that his voice sounds a lot like Peter Garrett in this song? When I first heard it on the radio I thought "Hadn't the Oils broken up?" Great song from a good bunch of perth boys.
