I think this song is about reminiscing on a love that was both exhilarating and tragic at the same time.... There were a lot of emotions that she will always remember, and how the song opens, with her mind bursting with all the things that she couldn't remember, perhaps she was enjoying the euphoria she felt with him so much that she did not face the fact that they were both losing their way in life as they became closer.
She accepts that the love will always be there for him but that it was what it was, they both lost their way and it just wasnt meant to be, but he will always mean something to her <3
