The Way It Should Be Lyrics
we pulled up; our coats on...
cause once we get out, it'll be
the only way we have of staying warm;
my thoughts were left at the back door;
you slipped on them, hit the wood floor
and foolishly, I helped you up;
and carried you to the stairs, but they
broke from the weight of our conversation;
we fell through the ground and into the basement;
the laundry broke our fall; strategically placed
because I planned on this the night before.
so you wait a few days
before you take it off
cause it all feels so strange
without our pictures on your wall
because I belong to you
and you belong to me
and thats the way it should be
we took off our coats
cause we finally realized
that it's not the weather
that was making us feel cold.
my thoughts still left at the back door
and you still bothering me for
not looking you straight in the eyes,
but I'm not this time;
so I looked right through
you to the passing trees
and focused on just one;
you asked 'why is everything
so different after dark?'
I told you this once, but
you took it with a grain of salt.
cause once we get out, it'll be
the only way we have of staying warm;
my thoughts were left at the back door;
you slipped on them, hit the wood floor
and foolishly, I helped you up;
and carried you to the stairs, but they
broke from the weight of our conversation;

as usual just another amazing song by TMA, not alot of people know it yet, but its got just another amazing chorus and will hopefully make it on the full length.
I really love this song. The chorus is so good and it really is just a hella good song. I can't believe people don't know more about them. This song doesn't make too much sense to me, except the chorus..haha.

I love the lyrics in this song... End of story
[we pulled up; our coats on... cause once we get out, it'll be the only way we have of staying warm; ]
I think this is saying that they need to talk the coats and 'staying warm' are what is keeping them together. And so they need that if they want their relationship to last.
[my thoughts were left at the back door; you slipped on them, hit the wood floor and foolishly, I helped you up; and carried you to the stairs, but they broke from the weight of our conversation; we fell through the ground and into the basement; the laundry broke our fall; strategically placed because I planned on this the night before. ]
This is talking about how they tried talking but she would get upset but each time they he would forgive her. Its saying how they're conversation was really deep and serious and that they kept aguing and it was difficult but he wanted to keep it together so he planned on a way to keep it from going to far and completely ruining their relationship... that's the laundry metaphor. He knew what was going to happen, so I planned a way to prevent it
The chorus is pretty much self explanatory.

This is saying how he was having a hard time saying his side of things [thoughts, opinons, etc.] And that she was getting upset at him because of it. So he did the best he could to explain it to her, but she still didn't understand it.
Idk there's more to this thats too difficult to explain but this is the just of what I got from it.
Its suchhhhh a good song though
