Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow Lyrics

You're trying to fool somebody but you end up fooling yourself
You're reading from "A Season in Hell" but you don't know what it's about
I listened to you now maybe you'll listen to me
You're trying much too hard to make your world seem like a dream
You're stepping out of something
Yeah I’m stepping out of line
Stop making a movie of it
Oh it's just my style
Stop sitting around and thinking
Ain’t gonna do no good
I thought your poetry wasn’t saying what it should

You're stepping out of something
Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow
Stop making a movie of it
Stop telling the things I know
Stop sitting around and thinking
Ain’t gonna do no good
I thought your poetry was sometimes good

You're trying to fool somebody but you end up fooling yourself
You're reading from "A Season in Hell" but you don't know what it's about
I listened to you now maybe you'll listen to me
You're trying much too hard to make your world seem like a dream
I said I listened to you now maybe you’ll listen to me
You're trying much too hard to make your world seem like a dream
Seem like a dream

I laugh each time I hear this one, no better for me than this bit of Lawrence's eloquent derision.

You make drama, you wrote poems, you don't even understand the poetry you read.

maybe that's why it was marked with an asterix...

anyways, if i remember right, the single version was the one that mentions "the book of the dead". it's the album take that references "saison en enfer".
