Nineteen Stars Lyrics

Don't tell me you're done for
Don't need to hear you're done for
But you can tell me what you are running from
I need you more than you need you
I can see you're really really running
Can I ask you where you gonna run to
And you think your really really funny
Well I don't think your funny as you do

We all feel like we're breaking sometime
But I won't give you up tonight

Stay awake, stay awake
Survive
I've got nineteen stars that I
Give your name tonight

And I wanna scream, wanna scream your name.
Star light, star bright can save
You're my wish tonight

Don't tell me it doesn't matter
I'll tell you what matters
Bare feet in the summer
Open windows at night
You think that no one needs you

You don't have nothing to see through
Well I needed you.
Don't I count?
Lets fight.

Show me anger
Fierce fists clutching onto air.
Show me anthing.
Just show me you care.

Stay awake, stay awake
Survive
I've got nineteen stars that I
Give your name tonight

I wanna scream, wanna scream your name
Star light, Star bright can save
You're my wish tonight

No one can catch me
The way that you catch me
The way that you keep me when I'm out of sight
What if I need you
What if I can't see you
I'm running out of life

No one can catch me
The way that you catch me
The way that you keep me when I'm out of time
What if I need you
What if I can't see you
I'm running out of life

Please
Stay awake, stay awake
Survive
I've got nineteen stars that I
Give your name tonight

And I wanna scream, wanna scream your name
Star light, star bright can save
You're my wish
You're my wish my wish
You're my wish tonight

this song is soo awesome...my favorite (musically) on Something Real, but I think vocally Dia sounds better Our Home Is Gone...its so much more raw...

It sounds like a plea to prevent a lover's suicide, but it does so on a level that touches your heart with soothing emotion--it could even apply to a friend who's had a bad day. It's cathathitic too, on a mutual level.

Well, Meg did say in one of the interviews that this song was about her and a neighbour of hers that would meet at the fence of eachother's backyards.

They would talk about the hardships of life and eventually dedicated a certain cluster of nineteen stars to eachother.

Don't tell me. You're done for. I don't need to hear. You're done for. You can tell me what you are running from. I need you. More than you need you. I can see you're really really running. May I ask you where you gonna run to? And you think you're living as a ghost now. Not quite heaven's ugly angel. We all feel like we're breaking sometime. I won't let you go tonight. Stay awake. Stay awake survive. I've got nineteen stars that I. Gave your name. Tonight. I wanna scream. Wanna scream your name. Starlight. My life can save. You're my wish tonight. Don't tell me. Nothing matters. I'll tell you. What matters. Bare feet in the summer. Open windows at night. You think that no one needs you. You have nothing to see through. Well I need you. I need you. Don't I coun't in this fight? It's morning now. Time to suffer again. A safety that drunk can't find. No one can catch me. The way that you catch me. The way that you keep me when I'm out of time. What if I need you? When I can't see you? And I'm running out of life.

This song reminds me so much of my best friend and me. She can just walk out of some room and say," I'm leaving this room. Nobody cares about me, anyway. Everyone's worthless." I'm in the room and I just look down. It hurts in my heart. I do everything for her. All I can do for her. Yet, she acts as if she doesn't care. Once, at a restaurant she even hurt her brother playfully. They took it as a joke cause they knew they were playing. But, everyone started ragging on her saying what she did was wrong. When we were all leaving, she was arguing with her mother 'til my friend finally screamed, " GOD! CAN WE PLEASE JUST GO HOME SO I CAN KILL MYSELF!?" My mother wouldn't let me stay the night.-That, and my dad caught me trying to sneak out to her house that night as well. I was worried.-So,....then I cried myself to sleep hoping she wouldn't do what she yelled. She always yells that sort of stuff. We were arguing about it one day 'til finally she yells, "WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CARE!?" I just stared at her wide-eyed and answered, "WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK!? GOD! YOU'RE MY FUCKING BEST FRIEND! YOU ACT AS IF I DON'T EXIST! I'M TIRED! WHEN YOU YELL OUT SUICIDE THREATS AND STUFF I GET REALLY WORRIED!" And....I just went on and on. XD And,.....after that, we were silent for about 20 minutes just staring at eachother. She finally said quietly, "I'm going home."

i love this song so much, lately it's been on replay on my ipod all day freaking long. it reminds me of the relationship i'm in; about to get out of if things don't change. this song is close to my heart, thank you meg and dia.

This song is deff about suicide...I read Meg's explanation and it's basically about how someone is going to commit suicide or someone telling the other not to commit suicde....then the chorous gives hope to the suicidal person! Very very good song....I'm sure it halped out a lot of people.....not just suicidal...but anyone who's had a bad day, ya know?

i adore this song so much! as well as the entire "Something Real" Album. i agree about it definitly being about a friend who is going to commit suicide, and they won't talk to anyone about their problems, or even show and emotion (hence the "show me anger fierce fists clutching onto air...")

this is one of my favorites from Meg & Dia =]

I just wanna say that this reminds me so much of something that has happened to me. Me and my friend where fighting and I finally just said "God maybe everyone would just be happier if I wasnt here" she said "Dont even start with the suicidal shit" and it hurt me so much because I didnt understand how she could not care that I felt that way.

"Show me anger Fierce fists clutching onto air. Show me anthing. Just show me you care."

I wouldnt care if she was angry with me for acting suicidal because it scared her, or if she hugged me and told me it was all okay. I just wanted to know that she cared.

I think this song is also continuing the story of another song. There are ninteen stars on the Indiana state flag. It's really cool listening to Indiana and Nineteen Stars back-to-back.
