Indiana Lyrics

I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
Like You

She began to die
Indiana that's not right
Indiana that's not right
She began to fight
Indiana make it mine
Indiana make it mine

So pale and white
So inclined to do what 's right
Colonel sir, I feel lonely tonight
She's strong but an obedient wife

I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
Like You

She began to die
Indiana that's not right
Indiana that's not right
She began to fight
Indiana make it mine
Indiana make it mine

Such honest eyes
No time to run and ride
Colonel sir I feel lonely tonight
She's strong but her mind is losing light

I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
I can do whatever I want like you
Like You

She began to die
Indiana that's not right
Indiana that's not right
She began to fight
Indiana make it mine
Indiana make it mine

I know, I know
She's alone
I know, I know
She's alone
Alone

She began to die
(I can do whatever I want like you)
That's not right you know
(I can do whatever I want oh no)
Indiana that's not right
(I can do whatever I want like you)
She began to fight
(I can do whatever I want like you)
Indiana make it mine
Indiana make it mine

The song follows the George Sand's (psuedonym for Baronne Dudevant) book, "Indiana." It is the story of a woman who had made an unfortunate marriage. At the age of nineteen she had married Colonel Delmare. He's very controlling of her, and she being an obedient wife, takes the brunt of it. She finally rebels when a dashing aristrocrat woos her only to her dismay later on, he's playing her. In the book, she's protrayed as weak, but strong, and she faints and becomes ill often

I got this from the CD, but am I the only one who thinks these lyrics are completely wrong? o-o I believe these are the real lyrics:

I can do whatever I want like you I can do whatever I want like you I can do whatever I want like you Like you

She began to die Indiana that's not right. Indiana that's not life. Then she began to fight. Indiana make it mine. Indiana make this mine.

So pale and white. Determined in rust and ruin. A dew drenched hour. Colonel sir her name's not yours.

I can do whatever I want like you. I can do whatever I want like you I can do whatever I want like you Like You...

She began to die Indiana that's not right. Indiana that's not life. Then she began to fight. Indiana make it mine. Indiana make this mine.

Frail, gothic eyes. A damsel, a somber sky. She faints on isles. Mademoiselle, hold tight your tongue.

I can do whatever I want like you. I can do whatever I want like you I can do whatever I want like you

Is this where the brave hearts hide? Oh no. Is this how the brave hearts die?

-- o_o Strange.

The song Indiana is on both the Something Real and Our Home is Gone albums. They differ lyrically though. The one you have is from Something Real. I think. =D

O_o...? Kay... didn't hear that all so... is this like the same situation from Masterpiece? The demo version and the CD version are different I noticed.

Probaly is. I'm listening to the version above so maybe this one's different.

No, Veggietable, you're not the only one :D Thanks for the lyrics!

Meg said that the song was inspired by George Sand's novel 'Indiana'.

Here's a summary of the novel, it pretty much fits/explains the song as well: It is a realist, idealist, and romantic novel that deals with the problems of marriage in post Napoleon France. In the story an attractive, young Creole from Reunion Island named Indiana marries a much older man named Colonel Delmare, who had been a Lieutenant in Napoleon's army, and who was a successful industrialist. Indiana does not love him, and searches for someone who will love her fully and passionately.

When I listen to the song I hear the lyrics that are on here. I think I like Veggietable's version better, though. Haha.
